It's official. If you didn't know already, WE LOVE BUFFY! So it's natural that we'd kick off our 'character appreciation' month(s) with the central character in this 'verse, Buffy Summers. We were going to start in January, but decided to just get it going now. This is a general, anything goes topic about Buffy herself. Post thoughts on her, post fan-art, drawings, fan-fic, anything really as long as it features Buffy! (alone) She is my favorite character, I love her so much! I actually don't know what my life would be like without Buffy. Here are all the site emotes I made, featuring her: :upset: :buffyslay:

She's my absolute favorite character of the 'verse! Love the Buffster. <3 Here's a Buffy question, as you answer it try to think up another question to follow. It'll like a chain of growing questions that everyone answers as we go. What's the funniest Buffy moment (show us with a quote or screen-cap) in BtVS?

Buffy... she's sure an interesting one! I love her sometimes, hate her other times, but in season 8, she's my favorite character. <333
And for funniest Buffy moment, I'm gonna hafta go with one of my all time favorite quotes: "That probably would've sounded more convincing if I wasn't wearing my yummy sushi pajamas." Ahh! Love that!
Here's another question!
What was the saddest Buffy moment in BTVS?

Who doesn't love the Buffster? I've been a fan of this verse for so long now, and that all started with this girl. What's the funniest Buffy moment (show us with a quote or screen-cap) in BtVS?- This was really hard as it is rare for Buffy not to say or do something extremely funny every episode. I decided to go with this: While probably not her *funniest* moment, I absolutely love this scene and what she says ( Buffy: Did I get it? Did I get it?) always cracks me up. What was the saddest Buffy moment in BTVS?- I'll have to go with the opening scene of The Body for this one. So heartbreaking. Easily Sarah's best acting on the series as well. - For some 'runner's up' choices I'll also go with: When Buffy and Giles both break down in Passion, and when Buffy tells Spike she was in Heaven. Here's my question! What was Buffy's most tender/loving moment with the Scoobies?

What was Buffy's most tender/loving moment with the Scoobies? There's obviously too many for me to even think of them all right now. But one I've always loved is at the end of When She Was Bad, when Buffy comes into class and Willow and Xander save her a seat. And they all smile and live happily ever after! And ofcourse the scene in Family, where she claims the scoobies are her family. What do you think is one of Buffys most heroic moments?

My favorite Buffy humorous moment is the scene in Anne where she's been depressed for the entire episode and the demon asks who are you and she rallies and says cheerfull " Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. And you are?" and then you know she's going to be okay.... Saddest moment-I'll go with Joyce's death too... Best tender moment with the Scoobys-I'm not sure if Dawn counts as a Scooby but I love the end of "Grave" where her love of Dawn is what finally snaps her out of her depression. Most heroic moment-that's really tough. There are so many. I actually think that Buffy is at her most heroic when she shows how forgiving she is (If you think about it,every major character at some point or another can be said to have betrayed Buffy and/or lied to her about something she really needed to know-even Tara lies to her about the part demon thing-except for OZ and Cordelia. And certainly Cordelia requires a good deal of forgiveness anyway... Buffy forgives all of them.). My favorite example of this is when she, without hsitation lends Willow her strength when Willow really needs it in Season 7. For my new question-What's Buffy's most romantic moment?
Best wishes,
Scott

I think the saddest thing is when Buffy sacrifices herself tor Dawn in "The Gift", I allways cry when I see that episode, and I've seen it many times, actually, I don't just cry, i weap!
I actually couldn't decide on the funniest moment, but the the most romantic I think I'd say was in season 2 when she has that nightmare that Drusilla was alive and killed angel, and she is SO worried:
Quote: Buffy: But what if...(Angel kisses her) Angel: What if what? Buffy: I'm sorry...were we talking?

Buffy funniest moment: Well, I think she’s a funny girl, and so adorable!!! I have to say that everytime she mispronounces the name of a demon!!! GOD I love that and I think is like a reminder of who she is, no matter how many years has passed… she’s still our Buffy… the Followers of Morgan Freeman… a new classic
Best tender moment with the Scoobies: Oh, I love her friends as much as I love her… but yes, I have to agree with “Same Time, Same Place” when she gives Willow her strength… and yes, also agree with how incredible she is because she forgives almost everyone… It’s no easy and not everybody can do it… just our slayer
Buffy saddest moment Well, she said it for me… the whole Angel/Angelus thing, just brakes my heart… “the saddiest-sad” (FYI: love her English!!!) Oh, but my favourite moment is the end of “Innocence” when she’s with her mom and there’s this little cake and she let it burn… and Joyce can see how sad is her daughter and just know that she can’t do anything to make it better… just be with her and hold her… god… it kills me that moment between them…
Most heroic moment Wow, there are so many… I have to go for the obvious because, well… “The Gift” when she realizes about the “death gift” she becomes a true hero… she has all this love to give and does the greatest sacrifice… herself… she’s not like us at least not me… but yes, I often go for the WWBD? Even if I’m not that strong…
Buffy’s most romantic moment Ok, so, I’m not a Spuffy fan but… “Touched” although it was more Spike than Buffy… and as a Bangel fan… I have to go for the end of “Angel” when they kissed and Angel gets burned with Buffy’s cross… well… even Riley was not that bad… he loved her so much, specially in the end of “The Replacement” when he’s talking to Xander
Yep, I love this girl, she’s awesome and brave and adorable and so strong…
Fav quote: Really hard, so I pick the one that says everything that Buffy is… now and always, even as the leader of an army… from “The Gift”
KID: How'd you do that? BUFFY: It's what I do. KID: But you're ... you're just a girl. BUFFY: That's what *I* keep saying.
Question, question?
Ok, so she’s great but far from perfect… so, What is her darkest moment?
I have to say all the sixth season, not because of Spike but how she let him hurt her so much… to make her think she wasn’t “a normal girl” the hurt each other so bad… and the rape thing was the lowest moment… even for Spike, he didn’t deserve to be used like that… It was painful for both of them…

I'll begin by stating that Buffy isn't my favorite character, nor is she in my top 3 (she is in my top 5 though). That said, I LOVE this character's development through the years, and the deepness that was given to us by the wonderful Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Buffy's Funniest Moment: I first thought of the beginning scenes of "Triangle" in s5. Buffy's friends are talking about how she'll deal with Riley's abrupt exit, and we then find Buffy fighting in a convent courtyard. After slaying the demon, Buffy asks a young nun about convent life.
BUFFY: So, um, a-about being a nun... you know, um, with the whole ... abjuring the company of men ... you know, how's that working for you? The... abjuring.
NUN: (confused) Um ... good.
BUFFY: Yeah, do you, do you have to be like super-religious?
NUN: Well, uh...
BUFFY: How's the food?
Most Tender Moment with the Scoobies: This one MUST go to s4 "Primeval", the hug-fest int he elevator shaft between the original three.
Buffy: Xander! Willow: Oh, wonderful Xander! Buffy (while giving a group hug): You know we love you, right? Willow: We totally do. Xander: Oh God, we're gonna die, aren't we?
Buffy's Saddest Moment: Buffy's desperation in discovering that she has not "come back wrong" from her brief stint in heaven. She is so distraught by Tara's news that Spike's ability to physically (and otherwise) abuse her that she breaks down.
TARA: It's not that simple.
BUFFY: It is! It's wrong. I'm wrong. Tell me that I'm wrong, please... Please don't forgive me, please... (sobbing) Please don't... Please don't forgive me...
Buffy's Most Heroic Moment: This one is tough since, well, Buffy is a hero. She has many heroic moments, many of them hugely dramatic and touching. But the moment that I'm going to choose for this, to appreciate Buffy, is from s1 when she faces her fears and fights the Master despite her prophecied death.
MASTER: You're dead!
BUFFY: I may be dead, but I'm still pretty. Which is more than I can say for you.
MASTER: You were destined to die! It was written!
BUFFY: What can I say? I flunked the written.
(...) MASTER: Did you really think you could best me here when you couldn't below?
BUFFY: You have fruit punch mouth.
Buffy's Most Romantic Moment: Since I simply love the Riley/Buffy relationship, I'm going to quote their first professions of love for each other from s4's "The Yoko Factor".
RILEY: (meaningfully) Because I'm so in love with you I can't think straight.
BUFFY: Tell me about it.
Buffy's Darkest Moment: One could argue that the entirety of s6 is Buffy's darkest moment, however, that was just another facet of Buffy to be explored. I would say her darkest moments consist of her falling deeper into her own complexes, doubting her friends, herself, etc. I immediately thought of "Touched" from s7.
BUFFY: That?s my problem. I say the word, some girl dies. Every time.
SPIKE: There?s always casualties in a war.
BUFFY: Casualties? it just sounds so casual. These are girls. That I got killed. (beat) I cut myself off from them, all of them. I knew I was going to lose some of them and I didn?t? You know what? I?m still making excuses. I?ve always cut myself off, I?ve always? being the Slayer made me different but it?s my fault I stayed that way. People are always trying to connect to me but I just? slip away. (beat) You should know.
Now for my question: What was Buffy's true purpose in the seven years spent living in Sunnydale?

While watching Season 7, I just realised what a troubled and complex character she is. I mean, we heard the platitudes "I am the slayer, this is the worst fate ever, the weight of the world" and so on, but underneath, where "The Slayer" and "Buffy Summers" meet in the depth of Buffy's soul, she is a troubled character and overwhelmed by the events of the past years and overwhelmed by the things that happened to her and the things she made happen. She is always the first to encourage the others to keep on fighting, not to give up and that hope is an essential thing, but I guess deep down, she would like to give up the most. A part of her wants to die and end the whole Slayer-thing (and stay dead), but on the surface she is the one to keep up the courage and make anything possible. The only thing I don't like about her (even though she is not really responsible for it) is her disconnecting from the group. Of course, she has to make the tough decisions, but she oughta know that she could really on the Scoobies no matter what. My favourite Buffy-Moments: - When she starts crying in "Touched" - She confronts Ford with his behaviour and betrayal in "Lie to Me" - Her conversation with Giles at the end of "Lie to Me" - "Guy: But... you're just a girl. Buffy: That's what I keep saying" from "The Gift" And many, many, many more.

I've been told, on more than one occasion, albeit by the same person (I think), that the character I'm most like from the series is Buffy. Not exactly sure if that's true or not, but I could see where the person saw that. I've looked up to Buffy for 11 years, which is more than half of my life. I haven't always liked her, and she's not my favorite character from the Whedonverse, but I've come to really admire the character and Sarah's unmatched portrayal. She really is the strongest female character in television history and I hope to share the series, and all I've taken from watching it, with my kids someday. Buffy's Funniest Moment: Ah, far too many to mention, but I have to give major props to the yummy sushi pajamas speech. Most Tender Moment with the Scoobies: End of When She Was Bad, power-giving to Willow at the end of Same Time, Same Place, scene with Xander towards the end of Seeing Red... Buffy's Saddest Moment: The Body and the end of Forever. The part when she opens the door and her mom isn't there is quite haunting. I'd also chip in the scene where she just leaves Xander and Willow at the hospital in Empty Places. Buffy's Most Heroic Moment: That single, and yet extremely powerful shot of Sarah's thousand yard stare into the sunrise at the end of The Gift. Brilliantly acted and directed - undoubtedly deserved an Emmy. Buffy's Most Romantic Moment: Her last moments with human Angel in I Will Remember You. As for a moment in BTVS, her own series, I'd have to say the flaming hands in Chosen. Buffy's Darkest Moment: Despite everything in seasons six and seven, I'd actually have to say that Buffy's darkest moment, IMHO, is in season eight (issue 18) when she decides not to save a group of humans being attacked by vampires. Other than that, definitely stabbing Faith was quite dark, regardless of what Faith had done. What was Buffy's true purpose in the seven years spent living in Sunnydale? Taking in consideration not only the broadcast series, but also Season Eight comics, I'd have to say Buffy's purpose in Sunnydale was - in relation to the mythology - to become a major player for the PTB in the 'verse. She was needed in Sunnydale to fufill her role as the Slayer, but also to impact the lives of those around her - give Angel the drive to become as important as he was to the Powers, to bring Willow into the magic fold, and so forth. From The Wish, we know at least one possible alternative verse wherein Buffy never came to Sunny-D. As for a more deeper purpose, I'd have to say it was to become the "hell of a woman" that she is - to get her to a point of complete selflessness ( Becoming Part II), genuine self-sacrificing heroism ( The Gift), and empowering leadership ( Chosen).

-Buffy's Funniest Moment: The ending of Living Conditions, between Buffy & Willow. I don't think it was the funniest but thats all I can come up with.
-Most Tender Moment with the Scoobies: Um… Buffy & Willow at the end of Time of Your Life part 4, but that whore Kennedy had to go and ruin the moment. Grrr…lol.
-Buffy's Saddest Moment: The beginning of The Body. Heartbreaking.
-Buffy's Most Heroic Moment: The End of The Gift, diving off the tower into the dimensional portal thingymabob.
-Buffy's Most Romantic Moment: Probably with in bed with Angel eating ice cream in I Will Remember You. I don’t know, I’m a little tired right now.
-Buffy's Darkest Moment: When she threatened Principal Wood about Spike.
-Buffy's true purpose in the seven years spent living in Sunnydale: Being the guardian of the Hellmouth? Right?
What/Who was Buffy’s worst rival? I would have to say Angelus because of how she felt for Angel and how the situation affected her. You know?
