I was soo shocked and sadened by Taras death. I always have and always will <3 Tara She was the perfect girl for willow. I complained for ages because Tara didnt have a place in the opening credits. At the end of season six I was glad to see her on them and then BANG! she was killed of Would love to see her return in the comics.

My favorite Tara moment was in season 5, when Joyce died, and she consoled Willow with the "strong like an amazon" metaphore. I think that was their first on-screen kiss. Willow: No, no, I-I, I should, I should wear the purple. The purple, I, I, I think the purple, it's just that it's so, I don't know. I-it doesn't mean something bad? Tara: I think it's, um... royal. Purple means... royalty. Willow: Well, I can't see Buffy at the morgue and be all royal! "Oh, I'm the king of everything, I'm better than you!" I have to be supportive! I, Buffy needs me to be supportive, I can't... God, why do my all shirts have to have stupid things on them? Why can't I just dress like a grownup? Can't I be a grownup? Tara: We can be strong. Willow: Strong like an Amazon? Tara: Strong like an Amazon, right.

Oh!That quote is one of my favorites! Tara is such a sweetie... If only she could still be alive!!!! I wish she could come back in season eight... But in one of the "Slay the Critics" the editor says that it definately won't happen... AHHHHRGH!!!! So ANGRY! (By the way, I love the "kennedy can suck it" avatar!! Hee hee... I hate Kennedy)

Awww I heart Tara times a million! The first reason I started watching "Buffy", many moons ago was because of the Willow and Tara relationship. I love Tara's personality and her relationship with Dawnie too.

"You were the heart of us, and we hardly realized it until you were gone."
- Giles to Tara in Dark Congress, written by Christopher Golden
That kind of sums it up for me, really.

Apologies from the start, as the character of Tara and why I liked her tends to get me soppy so bear with me.
Firstly, I liked the fact that she was just a nice person. It is a word that is often said in detriment about people but she truly was a nice person. Of all the characters on Buffy, she is the only one I would have wanted as a friend.
I liked the fact that she had a quiet dignity and strength. Didn't need it on her t-shirt or emblazened on badge, it was just there when she needed that strength.
But what I mostly liked about her was that she gave me hope. Like Tara, I know what its like to be brought up in an abusive home with a bully for a father. I know what its like to be made to feel worthless. When I started seriously watching Buffy (season 5) it was after a rather traumatic event in my life. In the character of Tara I found comfort, a kindred spirit (albeit a fictional one) and a person I could relate to. But I saw that people like me could find love and inner peace and gave me hope. As you cna imagine, I didn't take the killing off of Tara very well, but what she gave me as a character was precious.
Soppy I grant you, but it's honest.

holy divine unity, i really am late for tara appreciation month ... still, i want to appreciate her. i am a latecomer to buffy the vampire slayer and i started watching because i knew there was a lesbian couple in it and because somebody wrote on afterellen.com that btvs is so much better than the l-word. and i knew that there would be kennedy (read an interview with iyary lemon) and that willow's first girlfriend would be killed off. i only thought that would happen much sooner.
when tara came along in season 4 (and yes, i started with "welcome to the hellmouth" and it took me many months to reach that point of hush) i was - surprised. tara seemed so inadequate to me and for the first few episodes i was kind of hoping that her relationship with willow would be over rather soon. but i started to be intrigued, to say the least, when their relationship reached a new dimension in "who are you" with that "spell" (whow), and with new moon rising i had fallen under tara's spell. yes, she was still awkward, but what a kind and tender spirit. and she could also be cheeky.
season five suffered from a lack of tara for me. and when willow and tara broke up in season six i was angry cause i would see even less of her, i feared, and rightly so. then came entropy, one of my favourite episodes ever, and i just loved how their getting closer, especially since hell's bells, played out in one of the most beautiful reconciliation scenes EVER. by that time i was dreading losing tara, and it took only one more episode until that horror happened. i felt like i had lost a really close friend. i cry easily watching tv, but at that moment, i experienced such a profound feeling of loss, i could hardly believe it. as many of you have already said: i felt as if i had lost a friend.
but i can always return to my favourite tara-moments - especially, to name but one more highlight, in "once more, with feeling". ah, the voice. it's loving, it's tender, it's sexy, it's everything a girl like me could hope for. thank you, tara, and thank you, amber for bringing her to life in such a unique way.

I am definately in the Tara fan club. I am with everyone that hates the fact that she died. I think the plotline Joss discussed where Buffy would have one wish and that would have brought Tara back, would have been amazing. Since it never happened I wish I did not know there was even a chance. It makes it that much worse that she is gone.

OMG! Tara is awesome times awesome to the power of awesome! She is my number one FAVORITE character and I have a real hard time not trying to go all crazy fangirl about it! What isn't there to love about Tara? She's sweet and kind to everybody, and she really grew as a person and gained her own voice too! Her death completely crushed me. I was so devastated! I wish Joss went with that alternate ending at the end of season 7 with that whole "wish" business so Buffy could wish that Tara was alive again. -sigh- Oh well... EDIT: I've reevaluated my opinion on whether or not I want that alternate epsiode now. I've stated my opinion on this thread. slayaliveforums.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=btvs&action=display&thread=9066

Yayy! Tara love everywhere!
I was thinking about how unfair it was that Tara got snubbed in the credits until Seeing Red. Boo! She was as much as a scooby as Oz or Riley! Hell, she even got in the S5 and S6 cast shots!

Count me in on this. I love Tara. She's one of my favorite characters. I remember when I went searching for a Tara figure. That's how much I love her .

I read a fanfic once that said that "everyone fell in love with Tara once" and I really do believe that's true. She was such a sweet and kind person who always was ready to help her friends. I think we need more Tara emotes too!

Hell, she even got in the S5 and S6 cast shots! totally agree...she was also in more episodes than Oz and he still got "main character" status while she was always stuck in "guest starring" status....that always bugged me.

I shared this in the What's up thread, but it is appropriate here as well. I met Amber Benson on Saturday, and it was great. She was very nice, and I got her to sign my Willow and Tara comics!!
