Illyria is Joss's favourite character to write in the 'verse, from what he said in Comicon 2007. She's also my third favourite character in the 'verse (right after Spike and Buffy). You'd think she'd be a cartoonish character, given her appearance and her concept, but she's really one of the most complex. "This is only the first layer... Don't you want to see how deep I go?" Illyria is awesome, I'm in. I didn't think I would like her when she first showed up, because I thought Fred was awesome and it was so sad she was gone, but Illyria is awesome in a different way. I just wish we could have had both at the same time.

Illyria. I'd always found Fred to be a bit of a "Mary-Sue", honestly (but was still sad to see her go, thanks to the superb hole-in-the-world imagery and her gutwrenching last lines).
What's your favourite Illyria-centric 'ship?
Always has been and always will be Wesley/Illyria. (Second favourite 'ship in the Whedonverse after Spike/Buffy, in fact.)
What's your favourite Illyria-centric episode or comic issue?
Oh God, Shells. The opening and closing scenes with Wesley rock my world. As for the comics, I loved her in Issue #4 of Spike: After the Fall and Issue #14 of Angel: After the Fall.
