Okay, in Season 3 of Buffy right after Faith kills the Mayor's assistant(not Mr.Trick)Alan, Buffy is tormented and feels that Faith should take responsibility for her actions. Faith however feels differently and looks at it with the view of "look at how many lives we've saved.Even though she is not as tearfully dramatic as Buffy,she does in fact also admit that she is sorry it happened.
I have to say that during this Buffy irritated me and that I do infact agree with Faith.
What good would a Slayer really be sitting in prison?Not very helpful to humanity at all. Now I think if Buffy had given Faith some time she would have eventually let it be known to Giles. I can understand of course not wanting Wesley to catch wind because he's part of a bigger organization the Council and therefor Faith would naturally be threatened of the power and authority they could take.
I don't think Faith would have went down the road she did if Buffy didn't cram the fact she murdered someone down her throat and pressure her to make a decision . Personally I would feel pretty messed up and would need some time to deal with it.
This also leads in to Buffy in Season 6 where The Trio makes her believe that she killed Warren's ex-Katrina.Buffy was 2 seconds from turning herself into the authorities. At this point we would have had 2 slayers in jail and a whole lot of humans dead and vampires gone wild. I mean look at how Sunnydale got ambushed by the biker demons when they learned that there was only robot Buffy.Besides that how would she protect Dawn...her friends...the people she loved.
