So I was thinking about back when Dawn was first introduced. I remember thinking"Wait...ummm..did I miss an episode at some point?" So I went to work the next day and talked with my fellow geeks and was like.."Yeah...ummm...does anyone know what's going on?" I'm just curious as to what everyone else's reactions here were.

Well, I watched the show much out of order. I watched reruns on FX in the mornings and then bought Season Five. And I had already seen Buffy VS Dracula 3 or 4 times because FX was playing it over and over. And I had my sort-a-friend Chasity there and she watched the show when it was first on (not reruns) and she explained the "Why does Buffy not have a sister now?" thing.

I thought I missed something too. I was like, "Huh?"

I wasn't into Buffy when "Buffy Vs. Dracula" first aired, I got into the show in Summer 2001, so caught the Season 6 premiere episode when it aired. And a friend told me so I knew before I started getting into it.

I assumed it was a dream sequence at first.

i didn't start watching the show until October of last year, and before that I'd heard a lot of spoilers from my brother and sister, so i basically new everything big that was going to happen in the series. kind of a bummer, but at least i didn't have to wait each week for a episode.

I actually saw a couple of eps from S5 and 6 before I became an interested fan, so when I started watching the series from the beginning, my reaction after a few episodes was, "Hey, where the heck is Buffy's sister, and why is no one even mentioning her?"

Well I watched all of seasons 1 & 2, then seasons 3 & 4 off and on and only started watching Season 5 when Glory was introduced so I just figured I missed her introduction.

Yeah, I'd read that Joss was going to magic up a sister for Buffy ages before I saw the episode so it really didn't surprise me at all when she appeared at the end of Buffy vs Dracula. The downside of living in the UK is that spoilers are impossible to avoid without staying away from every website for every show you watch. That's why I'm glad that Sky One has started showing series within a week or two of the US broadcast. Means that I can now watch shows like 24 and Lost without knowing every single detail of what is going to be happening months before.

yeah, i started watching the show from season 6, so i figured dawn had always been in the show until i saw the first 3 seasons. i was so confused, i read about her character on the internet to find out where she came from.

My reaction: "Who the heck is that?" and "Oh no! Could Buffy be jumping the shark?" I was worried it would be all down hill from there, but as always, Joss pulls the whole thing together and I was pleasantly surprised. I will admit to never liking dawn though. Lately she is sort of growing on me more though. Or maybe she's like a bad haircut. Eventually you get used to it. Sorry. I'm opinionated.

I didn't mind her. I thought her first full episode was very funny, "real me." When it all played out, I liked that Buffy was fighting for her sister's life.

Dawn was one of the last characters I grew to like. Just lately I've accepted every character and learned to love them. Dawn was a teenager with problems. They're annoying in real life, so it's not suprising that she was quite hard to like on the show hehe

dawn is the second most annoying character in the Buffyverse. She's second only to Conner

I think she is okay.
I just find it bothersome that history was re-written to bring her in. This means that the previous seasons played differently than what we know.

I was quite confused when I watched it, but only thought for a moment I'd missed something. I was eager to watch more and find out how she just... appeared.
I never really liked Dawn, either... She's probably one of my least favourite characters, but I don't really have a huge problem with any of them.
