I think she is okay. I just find it bothersome that history was re-written to bring her in. This means that the previous seasons played differently than what we know. History wasn't re-written, they just remember it differently. It was memories that were altered - kind of like what happened when Connor got his new family. Except with Dawn, it sticks.

Oh okay. So the events weren't altered...just the character's memories of them?
That makes much better sense then!

So I was thinking about back when Dawn was first introduced. I remember thinking"Wait...ummm..did I miss an episode at some point?" So I went to work the next day and talked with my fellow geeks and was like.."Yeah...ummm...does anyone know what's going on?" I'm just curious as to what everyone else's reactions here were. i was like 'oh yeah... *scratches head and pauses* this must be going somewhere' i found it really hard to connect to dawn as a character for the first half of the season. i found her to be a whiney, annoying, willful brat. but i felt that her character had really developed by the end of season five.

My reaction: "Who the heck is that?" and "Oh no! Could Buffy be jumping the shark?" I was worried it would be all down hill from there, but as always, Joss pulls the whole thing together and I was pleasantly surprised. I will admit to never liking dawn though. Lately she is sort of growing on me more though. Or maybe she's like a bad haircut. Eventually you get used to it. Sorry. I'm opinionated. haha youre right tho, dawn was a very annoying character to begin with. and the introduction of dawn was so sudden. its like one day buffy= only child, next day shes got a sister

I think everyone, when Dawn was introduced, was thinking "What happened?"
He did it EXTREMELY suddenly, and it was nice. Surprising, and nice.
Dawn, in the fifth season, was annoying to me, she got a lot better in Season 6 & 7. You could tell how much she cared for Buffy, and I guess, to me, that's why I started to like her.

I remember watching reruns on FX but never knew the overall arc of the series. I decided to buy the seasons and started with 5, ironically in this case. I remember not thinking much about it, mainly trying to get a handle on everything else, mainly the big bad Glory. Although, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the dream sequence with Faith and Buffy, how Faith mentions Dawn, however metaphorically. I was very pleased when I put it all together
