This was something I started almost 2 years ago, but stopped due to school. I'm thinking about starting it up again soon...
Night would fall soon. The sun setting just beyond the horizon at a rather alarming rate. Fog was quickly rolling in, engulfing the little fishing boat, Old Luna. Old Luna set off from the coast of California earlier in the day. No land could be seen. The boat is small, pretty much the same as The Orca from Jaws. The boat was captained by Homer Carevv, an old rough man, almost pushing seventy. He weighed around 250 lbs., tall, and a long grey beard. He invited his long time friend, Daryl Driver, and Daryl’s grandson, Ryan. Daryl was the same age as Homer, thin and bald with a mustache. Ryan was eighteen, well tanned, curly brown hair and very fit. He didn’t want to go on the trip, but he wanted to please his grandfather.
“Hell no she didn’t like you in high school! She liked me!” Daryl yelled back at Homer.
Back in high school, they both liked the same girl, Luna. Hence the name of the boat. All three laid back on lawn chairs, beer cans on the deck and fishing poles in the water. The sun was completely gone now. The fog alot more heavy.
“What are you talking about?! Did you ever go on a date with her? No! Did I? Yes!” Homer yelled back.
Ryan was getting annoyed with both of them. They had both been yelling back and forth for about twenty minutes. He couldn’t take all the constant yelling about the old days anymore.
“Why don’t both of you just shut your mouths before I get so annoyed that I throw both of you over.”
Both of the old men stared at him, surprised, they hadn’t expected that from, since he has barely said anything so far on the trip.
“Sorry. That was just getting old…fast.” Ryan apoligized
“Fine. We’ll stop.” Daryl told his grandson. He turned to Homer, “But she did love me.”
Daryl punched him lightly in the arm. They’ve barely caught anything since they’ve been out. Only a couple of Trout. They sat there for a few minutes in silence. Totally dark now, the moon was the only source of light. Homer was planning on heading back before it got dark, but Daryl really wanted to catch something big. Ryan looked bored at of his mind. Homer felt bad.
“Face it. You ain’t catching nothing. Lets just head back.”
Daryl gave up. “Fine. I really wanted to catch something big so Ryan here would have a good time.”
Ryan turned his head to face his grandfather. “Oh, I’ve had tons of fun. Thanks for bringing me out.” He lied.
Homer got up, leaving a big dent in the chair. “Let me get Ol’ Luna started.” He started walking towards the cabin.
Daryl stood up and picked up his fishing pole. He was about to reel in the line, when all the sudden, something tugged. Hard. “WOO! I think I caught something big!”
Ryan just sat there and Homer came out of the cabin. Daryl could feel his hands start to sweat. He grips the pole with all of his strength. He can’t reel it in. The thing he caught tugged harder…and harder. He knows he can’t hold on much longer.
“A little help here!” Daryl yells, panicking.
Ryan rolls his eyes and stands up. “Don’t be an idiot. Just let go before-“
In a blink of an eye, Daryl is in the air. He hits the water. Homer laughs as he walks over to the railing to help his friend. Daryl is no where to be seen. Suddenly worried, he turns to Ryan. Ryan looks like he is in shock.
“Where is he?!” Daryl asks Ryan, serious now.
Ryan slowly turns toward him. “H-h-he was dragged under...”
Something bumps into Old Luna from below. She shakes back and forth violently. Daryl and Ryan fall to the floor. Hitting his head on a tackle box, Ryan opens his eyes, everything blury. He turns to see Homer knocked out. Something huge shoots out of the water. Ryan gets drenched with ocean water, salt stinging his eyes. When he is finally able to see again, he jumps up. The thing he saw is gone. He looks around for any sign of his grandfather. Nothing. He hears a growl and starts looking around, startled. Nothing. He closes his eyes and tilts his head up. He opens his watering eyes to see the huge object, hovering above the boat. It’s about 150 feet above. All he can see is black, but he can clearly see a long neck, huge legs and feet, huge head, arms and wings. Ryan looks up in wonder, thinking it’s a dinasour. That’s when it strikes, head first right for the old fishing boat. Ryan closes his eyes one last time.
The sun is almost up. Pink and orange sky high above. Buffy Summers walks down Main Street, looking up at the sky in a blankless stare as she passes the Sun Cinema. She had told Dawn that she was going out to patrol, but she didn’t want to. Buffy knew it was her job to slay vampires and demons but right now she just wants space and time alone.
It was hard for her. Being at peace in heaven, at least she thinks it was heaven, was paradise. But she was ripped out of there by her friends, Willow for the most part. They had thought she was in hell, they couldn’t let her stay there. Buffy didn’t want to hurt them, so she told them she was…in hell. When her friends finally found out she had been at peace, it only made it harder. On top of that, Giles left a few weeks ago. And now, Spike was able to hurt her. Worst of all, they were sleeping together. Buffy can’t take it. She had a good reason for ignoring her duty lately. She had almost gone to Spike’s crypt, but she stopped herself. She really wanted to, wanted to feel something, but she thought it was better and safer to just walk away. Buffy checked her watch.
“5:45. Better get home before Dawn and Willow catch me. Excuse? All nighter fight…again.” Buffy quickend her pace.
Buffy walked along the front lawn of he Summer’s household. She tip-toed up the steps. She bent over to pick up the newspaper and read the headline.
“Third Boat Missing in the Pacific. Weird.”
She slowly opened the door. It creaked a little. Buffy hopes it didn’t wake anyone. She shut the door and placed the newspaper on the table. She glanced over to see what time it was, 6:07. Her stomach rumbled and her eyes felt heavy. She quitely walked up the stairs toward her room. She tried her best not to make a noise as she walked down the hall. When she finally got to her bedroom door, Dawn rushed out of her room. Buffy closed her eyes tightly and then opened them again.
“Buffy!” Dawn said a little to loud as she walked towards her older sister. Her hair was loose and she wore a tanktop and sweats.
“Hey.” Buffy forced a smile.
Dawn looked over Buffy’s outfit. Jeans, black shirt, jacket. “Were you out all night?”
“Yeah. All Nighter-
“Fight.” Dawn finished for her. “Of course”
“Yup” Buffy frowned.
Dawn brightend up. “I was thinking, maybe tonight we could go to the mall. Just to spend time together and catch up. You haven’t been around the past couple nights.”
“Yeah, Dawn sorry but I’m really tired. I just need to rest and I have to work later. Night.” Buffy shut the door.
Dawn frowned. “It’s morning.” She said softly, knowing Buffy wouldn’t hear it. Dawn turned to walk to her room to get ready for school, knowing she wouldn’t see her sister the rest of the day.
Buffy leaned against her door. She wanted to spend more time with her sister but she didn’t have the time. She rubs her hands through her hair. She doesn’t bother changing as she walks toward her bed. She lays down and doesn’t fall asleep for another hour.
Willow dreams. She doesn’t know exactly what she’s dreaming. But there is Tara. And they are happy together. Happier then they’ve ever been. They will be together forever. Willow never wants to wake up from this dream, but she does. Willow smiles. She turns around in the blankets to play with Tara’s hair, but all she feels is a pillow. Then she remembers. Tara had left her. Left her because she was using too much magick. Willow was done with magick. Ever since that night she had almost gotten Dawn killed. She was doing better. Sometimes it was hard but she was doing good. She wishes Tara knew. Willow frowns as she sits up. She looks at the clock. 9:17. Time to get ready and see what today has in store.
After taking a shower, Willow made herself breakfast. She walks into the living room with her omelet and turns on the tv. She sits down on the couch, she sets her plate down on the coffee table and picks up the remote to see whats on. She channel surfs.
“The new Doublemeat Palace triple burger. Triple the meat, triple the pickles, triple the-"
“In other news today, Police found the remains of a ferry boat, no survivors have been found. We will keep-"
“No Johney! Don’t leave me! I love-"
“*KABOOM*”
Willow smiles. She finally found her channel. “Yay! Road Runner!” She picks up her omelet and starts eating.
She watches tv for about another hour. She looks at the clock, 11:32. Buffy is still sleeping. Willow is worried about her. She hasn’t seen her much. She gets up to do the dishes. When she is done she decided to go the Magic Box to see if there is any new Scooby Gang news. She leaves a note for Buffy on the fridge and walks out.
