Having a text message fight with a friend of mine who just got done watching The Hills. I unfortuantly watched it too.... Please note that she is in the middle of Season 7 of Buffy and Season 4 of Angel. Friend: That was absolutely amazing! Why can't every episode be an hour? Omg I can't wait till next monday! Me: That was SO annoying. "What?" "Oh my god." "What?" "What?" "Oh my god." "Oh my god." I still don't understand how you think that could be totally "real." Friend: You're an idiot. Me: It was just too much. I'm sorry. Friend: You don't have to apoligize for being stupid. You can't help it. Me: I could say the same thing about you. At least I know what good tv is. Friend: Oh yeah, nothing makes good tv quite like some sluty superhero surrounded by unrealistic friends and horny monsters. You know good tv alright. Me: The characters are some of the most realistic ever on tv. They just deal with supernatural problems. And since when has Buffy been a slut? You can't compare her to some of the women on shows you watch... Friend: You live in a fantasy world. I call them as I see them. Some people just don't get it...  |

Obviously, there are many people here who share your tastes in television as well as other things I'm sure. ;D

Trust me dude, watching Buffy in my house is a constant battle. My mom thinks it's a kid's show and is always on my ass about, I just shake my head and don;t even bother to explain cause it would just go over her head. I don't know anyone in real life who watches Buffy/Angel except my sister and her bf. Which is why I come here.

I don't know anyone in real life who watches Buffy/Angel except my sister and her bf. Which is why I come here. My brother is the same way. I know that he would just love the show if he would just give it a chance, but he is just so annoyingly stubborn about it. I was able to get two of my friends addicted to Buffy just from convincing them to watch "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "The Harvest." I keep trying to convince my brother to try the show out, but no success so far. He is a fan of every one of my favorite shows (even Firefly), but still hasn't given the Buffyverse a chance. *fumes* |

most of my friends have never even seen buffy or angel my best friend loves charmed though and my brothers and angel fan

Some of my friends like it, some of my friends dont. Some think its the best shows ever made, while others make fun of me for liking em. It's not matter though. If people dont' want to like buffy and angel then whatever, No one is forcing em to watch it, go ahead and let them watch their Hills or whatever it is, just let me watch Buffy and Angel and I'm happy.

I guess I am lucky.
My parents both like the show and my brother likes it too but he does not watch it alot. He really likes Angel more.
Not all of my friends watch it but none of them hate it. One of my best friends was obsessed with it when we were younger but she jumped ship when Angel left. She still asks me questions about how it all ended up sometimes.

So your friend was saying the Hills is better than Buffy? Wtf?! Thats idiotic.
I enjoy watching the hills too, but I would never be so delusional as to compare it to Buffy. Wow. Besides the obvious value in the quality of writing and acting, there's the amazing amount of critical acclaim. The show was nominated for mulitple emmys and a golden globe for SMG. Plus its listed as one of the best shows of all time.
I hate when people act like its stupid or immature to like or straight-up LOVE buffy. I feel its stupid that they can't appreciate something this awesome.

My friends and parents laugh at me when I tell them I'm a Buffy scholar. They don't see how what I do has anything related to academics. LOL.
I just designed a course on the Rhetoric of Buffy. Eat that!

Whenever someone is bashing Buffy who is too stupid acknowledge why people love the show, I retort with my 3 hit combo of cold logic.
If Buffy is so crappy then why
a) did it have a successful spinoff that ran for 5 season straight?
b) is it listed as one of the best shows ever on television?
c) are there academic courses about it in universities?
Usually shuts them the hell up.
