Without any hesitation: Wesley. The best character from a TV-Series EVER. The only other person that is some kind of comparable is Logan from Veronica Mars. But he lacks the tragedy and grief Wesley has in him.
I already knew how deep his character goes, when talked to the giant hamburger-oracle in "Loyalty".
I think I don't have to mention how heart-breaking and tragic his fate was in Season 5.

That's hard! I've always loved Willow, mostly Season 4 onwards. Buffy herself is a favourite of mine. Anya makes me laugh and I love Cordy (not Season 4 of Angel though, they ruined her!). I guess I don't really have a favourite as such, but Buffy & Willow I can relate to in ways. It's probably easier to say the characters I don't like as much. Xander! Argh he just annoys me at times he can be so whiny and pathetic. Spike at times annoys me with his whole Buffy on/off obsession. Connor - just so blah! Lindsay and Lilah were just OK. The potentials - is that a surprise  Okay, now I'm rambling! |

P.S.: I am pretty sure that Veronica is the love of his life. This is really not the place for this talk, but I don't think he deals with it an a very angry way... There are times when he freaks out, sure, like in the flashback in the first episode of Season 2, but for the most part he gets pretty reserved later on. Like in Season 3, I don't think he has any random violent outbursts until the last few episodes. And Lilly was the love of his life at the time I actually see a lot of parallels between Logan and Wes, even though they are COMPLETELY different characters, almost opposites. However they do have one major factor in common and that is BAD FREAKIN' LUCK. |

OMG! I can't believe Faith hasn't made this list more! She is absolutely, hands down, my favorite character from both series. I don't know what it is about her, maybe her sarcasm and her bad-assery, but I just love her and I can't get enough. I'd take Faith over Buffy any day of the week.
And Wesley is definitely a close second. He was just okay for me until Seasons 4 and especially 5 of Angel. After Fred died and he just shot Knox without any hesitation, and when Fred was dying and that lawyer guy walked into Wes' office to bother him with something other than Fred's case, Wes just took out his gun and shot him, point blank, no questions asked, without even blinking. He hit badass right there, and it definitely elevated him in my book.
Plus, I think both characters have the most complete character revolutions out of any we've seen on either show.

Spike/Anya
Spike's character development and his backstory really pulled me in. His willingness to go search for a soul and change who he was for the better...for the person he loved was something a vampire never did. Angel's soul was forced on him but Spike sought it out.
Anya...well Anya was just hilarious. Always entertaining and always said what was on her mind.
Angel:
Wesley/Lorne
Wesley went from a insecure boy with daddie-issues to a confident badass sure of himself and what he wanted. He always did what he felt was right even if the costs were high (taking Angel's son).
Lorne was just a ray of sunshine...I smiled every time he was on screen he always seemed to brighten up the show even in it's darkest of times. One of the saddest moments of the series ending was the "goodnight folks" after he killed a human being.
