I am fed up that there are no spin offs for buffy and angel on tv. I mean come on, what is wrong with the CW channel, how come they keep renewing a stupid programme one tree hill which have extremely poor ratings like 2.8 average. If you don't believe me look it up on wikipedia and type in one tree hill. This is a brilliant time to have a new spin off on the CW. Face it if there was a buffyverse spin off it would definetly save viewers for the channel in fact it will gain viewers.
But the question is would they consider airing a buffy spin off or would they turn it down just to make themselves look big with low crappy ratings.

I think too much time has passed for a proper spin-off, and unless Joss is involved, I don't know how good it would be. It would need to have Joss' watchful eye and would have to be fairly unrelated to our core group. Maybe the "Slayer School" premise would still be vaiid?

I think all of the actors have moved on now. They would only return for Movie, most of the actors have already said that they woule feel they were taking a step back in their careers if they went back to do the show but would be up for a movie all the right people came back, Joss, Sarah, Alyson etc...

yes i know, but they could make a spin off with brand new characters and what about gwen and nina? They should have a spin off or maybe they should have a show together working as a team and stars who play them ain't got much of a career anyway so that could help them get a better career.

Meh, don't think a spin oiff with them would be that good. Joss wouldn't go for it anyway, he quickly shot down SLAYER SCHOOL which was going to be a spin off with willow, kennedy dawn and some of the slayers froms season 7. I think that the only spin off that would work would be a Faith The Vampire Slayer. A Spike show would be better suited as a movie than a show mainly becasue It might feel a bot to much like Angel and James Marsters is looking old abd he might not pull off the vampire look now. Though with Dollhouse already having start date and FOX is treating it oretty well it looks like we will never get a Faith spin off, although why did they do Dollhouse abd not just do a Faith show instead...probably been to long since the buffy verse has been on tv anyway.  Oh I want a Ripper TV Movie! |

And from Eliza's perspective, they pitched a Faith&Spike spinoff to her at the time "Buffy" was ending, but she chose to do "Tru Calling" instead because she didn't want to start being typecast... |

I would love to see a spin-off just to see the scooby gang together again, but I highly doubt that one will happen. I'll just have to survive off the comics and the upcomin' Dollhouse.

Don't you lot think thats its not fair that Joss does other projects before doing a spin off. I mean he said he was going to do ripper for years and dollhouse just gets started straight away and ripper has to wait longer. And soon Joss will think of another project and he will do that before ripper as well and etc. Sometimes i actually get the feeling that the comics are there just to shut us up, and some of us are falling for it.

Don't you lot think thats its not fair that Joss does other projects before doing a spin off. Not really. Like jellymoff said, he wants to move on and do other things, just like the rest of the cast. A guy that creative doesn't want to be stuck in the same world (the Buffyverse) his whole career--he wants to create new stuff that people hopefully like just as much (which he accomplished with "Firefly"). I'm actually very happy, and very surprised, that he's even doing the S8 comic, and I'm very satisfied with it (BTW, I don't think he needs to do anything to "shut us up"--a few "Buffy" and "Angel" fans clamoring for more stories wasn't going to keep him awake at night or get in the way of his future projects, so he didn't have to give us anything). "Ripper" has been rumored for years now, but how do you know it hasn't happened yet just because Joss hasn't gotten around to it? Maybe Tony has been too busy, or maybe the BBC has just been dragging their feet deciding whether or not they definitely wanted to greenlight it. There's any number of reasons why it could've been delayed this long. (Personally, I've never been too excited about it--not a huge Giles fan.) And beyond "Ripper" (which is just supposed to be a TV-movie, or maybe a miniseries), I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any new spinoffs. Maybe there might be a movie, someday, but even that is pretty unlikely. You should just enjoy "Dr. Horrible", and "Dollhouse", and any other awesome stuff Joss does in the future, and don't gnash your teeth and get angry over the fact that he's not doing more Buffyverse stuff. That's what S8 and AtF are for... |

So don't you lot want a spin off, i mean i'm surprised that so many people have become fans of the two shows after they ended, for example me. If they did a spin off i'm sure that they would get higher viewers than want they usually used to get.

Someone mentioned that they thought it would be too late for a spinoff of either Buffy or Angel to happen, given the fact that they've both been off for 4 and 5 years, respectively. But, lest I remind you that The CW is making a spinoff (or REMAKING the show, depending on who you're talking to) of 90210 to premiere this fall. That's been off for 8 years I think. So there's a precedent right there. Of course, we don't know how the show will perform because it hasn't even premiered yet, so it could tank and the precendent would go right down the toliet.
That being said, I'm not sure I would want a spinoff at this point. I'm happy with the S8 and upcoming S9 comics as well as ATF and SATF being out there right now. They're more than enough to give me my fix, and much, much, much, much more than I ever thought we'd get.
I agree with Robotico that it's a bit unfair to ask Joss to live in the Buffyverse forever. Let's face it--this world is the first large universe that he created and put out there. It had an amazing run--12 combined years and well over 200 episodes--and now he's returned to it by putting out a 40 issue run of Buffy and a 16 issue run of Angel (with some major help from BL on that front). I'm a fan of Buffy and Angel, for sure. But, I'm also a fan of Firefly and Dr. Horrible. Most importantly, I'm a fan of Joss Whedon, and I want to see what that man has inside his head, even if it is a few pennies and some lint.

No, not time for a spin off. It's been 5 years. If there was going to be one, it would have been a few years ago. Be happy with the comics, at least we have something.
And it's not unfair for Joss to do something other than the Buffyverse. That's the most ludicrous thing I've read in a while. There's nothing wrong with that.
New Buffy probably won't be on TV. Boo hoo.
