So if there ever was a film or series that got off the ground it’s most likley that it will be set as if Buffy season 8 and Angel season 6 has already happend right ?

That's what I hope happens. But Joss Whedon said at the Buffy Reunion that if he got the chance to make a movie and couldn't tie it into the comics, he'd shoot them down and "wouldn't lose a lot of sleep".

It means Joss has no problem disguarding the comic in favour of a new filmed project.
It could be very hard to tie a film into a comic bearing in mind the huge number of people watching it who never bothered with the comic version. Joss basically couldn't reference any event so as to not alienate the audience.

(thats a bit sad..lol) :upset: Sure he could... a lot could/would have happened in the years from TV show to the film, the audience would know that.. It would be easy to reference some stuff from the comics, but as long as the main plot is different / new.... ( lol I don't know, but it's like the comics would be a waste....)

I really wish a Buffy movie would focus on what happened in between season 7 & 8. Might seems as a step back, but I would like it.

There are massive developments in Season 8 which fans of the show would not be aware of, that couldn't just be referenced, as they completely change the setting. It can be done, I'm sure; but it seems as though Joss wouldn't be bothered. In his defence, there's probably enough work in making an 8 year long show run as a movie, let alone a follow up comic book.

(I have only read the first 5 comics, so I really don't know whats going on.. lol)

Yeah I didn't mention anything specifically so as not to piss off spoiler-free members, but there is some massive stuff happening/about to happen in season 8.

HA ... ok well in saying that I don't know how a movie could work then lol... maybe he will just have to make a book/animated series for people to read/ watch (or they could just get the comics lol) and make the film set after the comics...maybe like 5 year later.

I just watched the trailer to that and as soon as I realized it would be Spuffy in it, I was shacking my head and turned it of.
No, no, NO. I am forever anti-Spuffy. I thought I had gotten over that but, nope, not gonna happen.

For me, there is actually no need for a new series or film. Let's be honest, too much time has passed. Not only the actors but the fans have developed.
I love the way everything turned out. Chosen and Not Fade Away. The comics are a nice bonus, but for me with the least episodes of the last seasons, that chapter was ended.
I just enjoy experiencing this stories over and over and over and over again.
I hope they'll let it rest.
But hey, count me in for a completely new series set in the Buffyverse.

Well, you guys are in good company, since this is the single most anti-Spuffy forum I've seen online, even rivaling TWoP (especially after the Scott Allie incident that sent most Spike and Spuffy fans running for the hills). Emmie and my masochism are pretty much the only reasons I'm still forbearing.

*sighs* Do we need to qualify a new rule of 'no hating of 'ships'? People can not like Spuffy, that's fine. But if you are going to criticize it at least take the time to form an intelligent and constructive thought on the matter. Careless posting is an annoyance we can do without. The posting word limit is meant to encourage greater constructive thought. Got it? Okay!

What do you mean... I have only been on this forum for like a week since I first joined in 2007.... there was an incident lol ?

I would like just a nice long Buffy episode. Doesn't really have to tie in with any plot.
I think I'd like the movie BETTER if it did somehow move the show along. I would be a little pissed if it didn't have anything to do with the comics, though, because I feel like they are well worth making a movie off.
I'd like to see a Fray movie over a Buffy movie though. Could bring in more fans for the show.

The posting word limit is meant to encourage greater constructive thought. Got it? Okay! I was definitly not hating on the ship, I was just saying that I got a fierce anti-Spuffy feeling after seeing a bit of that trailer. But I realize after re-reading my post that it didn't add to the discussion, although I wanted to express my feelings, without going into a long discussion of why I dislike Spuffy. But to flesh my post out; "Sure, maybe it could work. But after a few lines it seemed as if Buffy was going to say 'I love you, please be with me forever' and I felt that the movie would resemble a bad fanfic and lost patience, although that is probably unfair to the makers of the movie.
I'll probably watch it someday, when I have time. Who knows, maybe I'll love it. It's just... Bangel makes me cry in a way Spuffy can't."Not sure if that was constructive and intelligent, but I gave it a shot.
