Kinda annoyed me how shows like this just steal ideas from buffy ! Rant Over Anyone one else experienced something like this ?

Willow's eyes turning black wasn't the first time that happened on TV.
One example I can think of was in the TV miniseries "Storm of the Century" by Stephen King, which aired in 1999. The main baddie, Linoge, his eyes turned black on a number of occasions. Stuff like this is borrowed a lot of times by shows or movies, it isn't some new concept that started on Buffy.

I think shows like Supernatural know that they owe a debt to Buffy for really kick-starting a genre of TV. Buffy wasn't the first vampire show ever, but it balanced character development and monster action like nothing I have ever seen. I remember one episode of Supernatural where a character (not one of the brothers) is in a scary situation and he says "What Would Buffy Do?". Whedonvesre alums have worked on the show as well-Amy Acker is one that I remember. It's no Buffy, but I like the show.

I personally like Supernatural. One reason is, because it is in the same genre of Buffy. If you wanna b*tch about a show go look at Moonlight on CBS. Its a completre ripoff of Angel the Series and they don't try to hide that fact.

If I remember correctly I heard that David Greenwalt had something to do with Moonlight initially but it didn't work out or he left, or something. Anyway, what a bad show. I watched one episode and couldn't get through the whole thing.

ok wasnt b******g about supernatural its a good show ! Guess im annoyed that, shows like that are still around and it reminded me of buffy not being on TV anymore ! I get buffy has taken elements from before TV programmes or films, Maybe what im trying to say is, i love how buffy has made such an impact even though it finished quite a while back

Don't forget that vampires have become a pretty big part of Supernatural's story as well, though their vampires a lot darker and not as clear-cut good/evil morally speaking.
It's a good show, it took me a long time before I got into it (though I remember watching the pilot when it aired and liking it). Right now it's the only genre show I feel is coming close to the feel that Buffy and Angel had. The comedy mixed in with horror and action, the dark character arcs. It reminds me a lot of the proposed "Faith on a motorcycle" road trip series that was thrown about after Buffy ended.

Supernatural is another one of my favorite shows, and I can tell that Buffy had some kind of influence on it. Like the 20th episode of the second season "What Is and What Should Never Be" (Which is one of the best) was inspired by "Normal Again". The creator said so in an issue of the official magazine.
It also refrenced Buffy in the season one episode "Hell Hounds":
Ed: Be brave. Okay, WWBD. What would Buffy do? Huh? Harry: What would Buffy do? I don't know, but, Ed, she’s stronger than me.
And of course, Amy Acker, Amber Benson, and Mercedes McNab have had guest roles.

I really like what Supernatural is doing for the genre that Buffy and Angel helped usher in. I love that they seem to take inspiration from Buffy and Angel, and that they put their own twists on things. Another thing that I love about Supernatural that wasn't really a focus on BtVS and AtS is the fairy tales. Supernatural really goes into the myths of creepy things like that, and Buffy did it once or twice (the two ep's I can think of are "Ginger Bread" with Hansel and Gretel, and "Killed By Death" with the Bogey Man). I am also loving the most recent episodes involving the epic dynamic of angels and demons. I think it is a great show that is borrowing from Buffy and paying homage, but at the same time it's pushing it's own new boundaries. There are times when I get a little fed up when they flat-out copy episodes, but hey, isn't that the highest form of flattery? Also, Jensen Ackles needs to be in my pants.
