"In order to defeat Anyanka, one must destroy her power center. This should reverse all the wishes she has granted, rendering her mortal and powerless again."
This is what Giles saids to Buffy. Giles destroys Anyanka's pendent. That should've reversed all her wishes like he saids. But in "Hell's Bells", the demon that pretended to be future Xander was still a demon. Anyanka had turned the guy into a demon back in 1914. That was before the events of "The Wish". And it's also safe to assume Anya was not a vengeance demon from after "The Wish" until the end of "Hell's Bells". So shouldn't her spell wear off and the guy should've been human again? I mean he might still be pissed off at what Anya did to him. He would've been a pissed off old man in his 100s maybe? Got some magic mojo going, traveled back in time and sabotaged her wedding. That's all fine. But the problem is he's still a demon. I think that's a continuity error right there. Anyone else catch this or does Joss have an explanation for that?

That's a great point you have! I never caught that one before you said something. Technically everybody she has EVER cursed would reverse then, right? So i guess that means Olaf wouldn't count, cause technically she did that before she got the pendant and that was what got her the vengance gig in the first place, so i guess he'd be the only one to not be affected. But yea, you'd think EVERYONE else would.

Great catch! I think you're right, and I really can't think of a way to explain it away.
PS- I LOVE S6!! hahaha :upset:

I rewatched "The Wish" last night since forever I guess and caught this for the very first time also. For some reason this is still bugging me, lol. I was trying to come up with explainations too. So I thought about this. Maybe when a vengeance demon gets her powers back, all her old wishes are restored. In theory, if this holds true, then I guess it's possible. But then I thought to myself, well Anya was human after "The Wish" till after "Hell's Bells". So it wouldn't matter. There goes that theory! Yeah, okay, I have no more explainations, lol.
PS - S6, the most hated season among Buffy fans! Or as I call it, the season of Spike's man cleavage! What is with all the hate for S6? Lol. I mean yeah it's my least fav also but it's different and enjoyable in its own way. It was so relatable for me...well except the banging a vamp part!

I love S6! It was one of my favorite seasons, perhaps because it went so much out of Buffy's usual domain.
But you make an excellent point about Anya's wishes being taken away. I believe that it was just something that Joss used to destroy Anyanka in "The Wish" before he ever wanted her to be a longer-stay member of the cast. But it would've been nice if that was addressed somehow. I'm trying to think of some other wishes that Anya had granted but none are coming to mind right now that directly affect the Scoobies or another storyline...

Another reason for me to never watch this episode again. It won't beat reason 1 - "because it's god damn awful" any time soon though lol.
Seriously the season is better without it anyway.

I always thought Giles might have THOUGHT that was going to happen, but in reality it only reversed the curse she had just last done.. i guess that was my way of having it make sense. PS. I heart S6. Spike is hotness.

"Hell's Bells" is fantastic.
The way I explain this to myself is simple. Only the most recent wishes get reversed. If every single wish ever granted by her got reversed, the entire course of the world would be changed.
Plus, the mere existence of Olaf the Troll contradicts the original theory. So I definitely think that explanation makes everything make sense with Anya's power.

The least popular Buffy season is Season 1. Season 6 is the most controversial, which is usually a good thing to be. Even though said "man cleavage" only appears in about four episodes? Pat is spot-on, as usual. +Rep.

Im pretty sure he was mistaken as for it being ALL the wishes, but if you choose to think that then you can simply go by the fact that Olaf was trapped in a crystal and the demon from Hell's Bells was trapped in a different dimension.
