I was saving this for the rewatch but at the present rate it'll be nearly a year so here we go;
I only have eyes for you
The Good;
Nice plot, nice 50s feel, good central romance and Giles' irrationality over Jenny yet sage words of forgiveness for Buffy. Giles saving Willow (this ep is full of tender scenes between them). Xander being grabbed by the arm in the locker (love Giles mishearing this as Loch-Ness Monster). Cordy's outrage at the idea of the Sadie Hawkins dance, the writing on the blackboard. Spike rising from his wheelchair. Oh boy, you just know there's fun to come.
The Bad;
Not much, really strong ep
Best line;
Xander; Something weird is going on, isn't that our school motto?
Also like 'The quality of mercy is not Buffy' and You came, you saw, you rejected' always nice to see Shakespeare paraphrased in an American teen show
Wheldon cliches;
Knocked out;
Character death; the fourth member of the SDH faculty to be killed in 2 years
Shot; Angelus
Tied up;
Women good/men bad; James killing Grace, lovely role reversal at the end with Buffy assuming the male role in the scenario. Apparently this was the ep that convinced Joss that Angel/David could carry his own series.
Subtext; hints of Gillow
Questions and observations;
So what happens to the janitor who shot the teacher? I guess without Giles' testimony and no gun the case against him has to be dropped. Note that the dinner lady here is the same one who later turns up in Earshot (she's also in BBB). We discover that the SPD and Snyder are both aware of the Hellmouth and in on the conspiracy. First mention of The Mayor. First appearance of the mansion and Spike and Angelus lusting after a naked Dru. Also we have jasmine growing at the mansion although you wonder if there is any relation to Angel season 4
Good ep, I'll give it 4/5.
