The show you mean? Well, one of their big sponsors was a big fast food chain, and the hilarious negative stereotypes portrayed in the Doublemeat Palace episodes were sure to piss them off. I mean, "mystery meat", corporate drones, cover ups of the truth regarding the processing of the meat, etc.

I thought that I remember hearing Joss or another writer say in an interview (I don't know where or when) that they got flack for having Buffy work at a Fast Food Restaurant at all. I think the context of it was that they got more flack from the network that the fast food Restaurant than the lesbian kiss. I could be making this all up in my head though....

I believe it was McDonalds Wow, seriously? Its weird that they sponsored a show with an actress they once sued (Sarah Michelle Gellar).

When did they sure Sarah and what about? They sued her when she was only four years old! Crazy. She was in a Burger King commercial that basically said their burgers were better than McDonalds, so they filed a lawsuit. It was eventually dropped though. I just can't believe they sued a four year old girl!

"The only thing that we’ve ever actually been stopped or asked to stop doing was the fast food run. When Buffy worked at the fast food joint it made the advertisers very twitchy. So apparently the most controversial thing we ever had on Buffy was a hamburger and chicken sandwich." -- JossWhen SMG was 4 or 5 years old, she appeared in a Burger King commercial, in which she criticized McDonald's and claimed to eat only at Burger King. McDonalds thought that suing Burger King, their ad agency, and a four year-old (who appeared in court as a witness for the defense) was a good idea. The case eventually settled out of court. You can watch the offending commercial here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXJEdV6U1Tk

because UPN was new when it had buffy, right? and it was trying to get more endorsements and most valuable endorsements come from McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, etc. and the endorsements were kinda pissed that they did an entire episode making fun on their paying endorsements.

True Hollywood Story or something of the like. I think they did it just because it'd be funny getting SMG to do a McD's commercial instead.
