So, i'm watching episode 4 of Dollhouse and i began to question 1: Topher and 2: how the actives know how to say "Did i fall asleep?"
Topher can't be more than 25... and how did a 25 year old get a job making designer people and (as far as we, the viewers know) designed a system to program people... this just seems a little weird to me... and i really hope Dollhouse gets a second season so we get to learn more about Topher... because to my knowlege, there's not current plan to further explore Topher.
another think i noticed...
Doll: Did I fall asleep? Topher: For a little while, yes. Doll: Shall I go? Tohper: If you like.
sounds too rehearsed to be a coincidence... and i just questioned if something in their design causes them to say the same things, in the same manor, at the same time... like using a digital recorder to set a time at which a message plays. which makes me think the Dolls are less than human
also, it would be interesting to see how joss plans to write it how the Dolls get their memories and whatnot... back after the 5 years... and i've always quesitioned how if the engagement was erased, why Echo, Sierra, and Victor don't remember that they are human and not dolls.

Topher Yes, he's in his late twenties, but when reflecting who could have possibly done the remote wipe, he could only think of two names, which means he's incredibly smart. Also in the first ep I think he referred to his genius directly, a bit narcissistic haha
Tabula Rasa I have a theory, the "blank slate" status is an imprint itself, operating to repress memory, with a few specific parameters such as "Did I fall asleep". It's possible that the back-and-forth when the wake up in Tabula Rasa is Topher's version of a programmer's start up screen, to indicate that everything went smoothly, and also to serve as a calming protocol. Apparently, being "reborn" is quite traumatic, which accounts for the spa-like atmosphere of the Dollhouse.
There's also a few code words between the handler while they're imprinted, "Are you ready for your treatment" and "Do you trust me". I believe these are base line protocols for the doll, to always be running, whether they are in Active or Doll modes.

All I know is that "Did I fall asleep" "For a little while" "Shall I go now" "If you'd like" Is getting way to repetitive and it's only the fourth episode! I want it to go away

maybe its just Topher. After all they did give the actives strang names to like Echo and Alpha. Besides Joss loves the idea of odd names. Do i need to recall Buffy, Xander, Willow, Dawn, lol.
I might make the pyjamas myself too lol. I want them to be shorts and t-shirt pyjamas. Maybe A Blue top and Gray bottoms. I have yet to decide lol

No, he isn't. I was responding to the post about how the Actives have weird names. Figured Topher to just be short for Christopher, as previously pointed out. Isn't that the case with the guy from "That 70's Show"?
