It's Lorne Appreciation Month! What started out as a small recurring role in Season 2 of ANGEL and grew into something much, much more, The Host AKA Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan AKA Lorne quickly became a fan favorite. Probably the most caring, endearing and well dressed demon in the Buffyverse. Lorne started out as the fun-loving owner of Caritas that could read the futures of anyone that sang into one of Angel's trusted allies and members of Angel Investigations. Rest in Peace, Andy Hallett.-Questionnaire-Favorite Quote(s):

Oh, Lorne. Lorne = Love. the only character that didn't have something really depressing happen to them, like breakups or untimely deaths.
Favorite Quote(s): "Go to sleep, lullaby. You've been fed and you're sleepy. You'll be with Uncle Lorne, who in no way resents not being asked to go to the ballet. And is certainly not thinking of selling you to the first vampire cult that makes him a decent offer..."
Favorite Moment: When they're trying to trick Evil Cordy into showing herself and they have him singing in the basement until she comes.
Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: Not sure...there are loads of good ones
When Lorne's at his best: When he's singing
Worst moment: After he kills Lindsey and then walks away. Very sad.
Final thoughts: he's just amazing. we love you Lorne!

Favorite Quote(s):
Ooo, there are too many.
"I'm The Host, have you met me? I never shut up." -Happy Anniversary "And that's why when we use words like "ugly-ass" and "beastie," we can sometimes do more damage than we intend to." -Sacrifice
"Mmm. Wow, this is...You, uh, you really....you taste great." -Life of the Party
"Dude, this is your night on! Now mingle. Mingle, mingle, mingle, mingle, mingle[/b]! -Life of the Party
"Goodnight folks" -Not Fade Away
Favorite Moment:
Again, there are too many. Really loved when he'd give guidance to Angel throughout Season 2, especially in Epiphany. And while Lorne is always known for being light-hearted and fun, I always loved when he'd get serious. Yelling at Wesley in Orpheus stands out, same with shooting Lindsey, where he delivers what I think is the best final line of any character. One of his best moments was in After the Fall, getting the gang back together to help Angel defeat the Lords. Overall though, I think my favorite Lorne moment would be when he interrogated Eve in A Hole in the World. Such a fantastic scene.
Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance:
That'd have to be "If I Ruled the World" from Not Fade Away, but "Superstitious" also stands out, and "It's Not That Easy Being Green".
When Lorne's at his best:
I really liked mid-Season 3 and all of Season 4 Lorne the best. He fit in so well with the gang and it's when he really turned into an amazing character.
Worst moment:
In all honesty, Lorne never had one. He was consistently good throughout his entire time on the show, helping every character out at one time or another, he really held everything and everyone together, the most level-headed.
Final thoughts:
Lorne has always been one of my favorite characters, easily in the Top 10, maybe even Top 5. He never really had an amazing character arc, but he was just so great that it didn't matter, and I think all the credit has to go to Andy Hallett. Sure, the writers wrote great stuff for Lorne, but Andy brought life to what would otherwise be a mediocre character.

Favorite Quote(s):
"Has Cordy been a bad bad girl?"
"This is way beyond my ken and my Barbie and all my action figures."
"Oh really? Yeah well I'm not some mystical vending machine here to spit out answers every time you walk in with a problem. I have a heart. Grant it it's located in my left butt cheek, but it's still a heart, and that heart is broken."
Favorite Moment: All of the Pylea episodes.
Lorne: "Somewhere over the rainbow" Villagers: "IT BURNS IT BURNS!"
Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: It's not easy being green.
When Lorne's at his best: The House Always Wins....The Life of the Party
Worst moment: Never...Lorne was always Lorne. He was never at his worse...he was the one that picked the others up when they were at their worst.
Final thoughts: Lorne was one of those characters that you would love to hang out with. He had a big heart (granted it was in his butt) and a voice of a Angel. The character and Andy will be remembered and loved for generations.

Favorite Quote(s): - "There's not a destroyer of worlds that can argue with Manilow." - "You're rocky, all right. And 'Rocky 2', and half of the one with Mr. T." - "Since you were raised in a hell dimension by a psychopath, and since that happens to be a subject I know a little something about, we'll just let that one slide." - "Those were some exciting products, am I right? Let's all think about buying some of those." And so many other great ones--way too many to list. Favorite Moment: Kind of a sad one, but I love that moment at the beginning of "Underneath" where he's at the bar, feeling depressed over Fred, and lies to the bartender about his wedding. That whole arc after Fred's death really gave his character a whole new depth, and really made him a fuller, richer character, I thought. Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: "It's Not Easy Being Green" and "Lady Marmalade" in "The House Always Wins". And tho he only sings one line of it, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in Pylea. When Lorne's at his best: Pretty much anytime he's on screen. I especially love him back in his Caritas days (particularly when he keeps sending Angel on all those missions that turn out to be "pointless and deadly"), and also in S5--early on, when he's in heaven over running the Entertainment Division, and at the end, when he sinks into a permanent funk after Fred's death. Worst moment: "Fredless", when he's pretty damn rude to Gunn ("Maybe I should wait outside"; "You know, I'm not entirely uncomfortable with that suggestion") over the events of "That Old Gang of Mine". He was out of line in blaming Gunn as much as he did, IMO. Final thoughts: Great character, great singer, great actor, great guy. He'll certainly be missed.

Favorite Quote(s): Ooh. Oh, I'm sorry. That was a knuckle-buster. I'm Jake LaMotta over here. It's pathetic. Oh. Here's the thing, EVE: You're going to sing for me, and I'm going to read you right now. And here's one more thing: Winifred Burkle once told me after a sinful amount of Chinese food, and in lieu of absolutely nothing, I think a lot of people would choose to be green. Your shade, if they had the choice. If I hear one note—one quarter-note—that tells me you had any involvement, these two won't even have time to kill you. Oh, and anything by Diana Warren will also result in your death—well, except Rhythm of the Night. (A Hole In The World)
Favorite Moment: When he hits Eve in A Hole In The World.
Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: In the end of season 2, when Lorne sings and scares the other Pyleans as a distraction. So cool.
When Lorne's at his best: Giving advice, listening, just generally being there for people.
Worst moment: I guess some scene with a bad joke.
Final thoughts: A character that could have gotten developed so much more.
Sure, he was a great person, nice, and he joked a lot, but for me, that was it. It wasn't until in season 5, the scene in Underneath when Lorne talks to the bartender, brooding (about Fred) that I started to really feel for the character.
It could of course be that several other characters got such interesting/painful arcs so Lorne just seemed one-dimensional because he was in the background, not being tortured by guilt, visions, demonic possession or anything.

Lorne was the best male character on Angel, IMO. He was the best demon character, right after Illyria. And he was my thrid favorite character out of the Buffyverse. Andy Hallett was a great guy himself, too. He was amazing!

Favorite Quote(s): "Who knew Shatner could sing? Well, maybe not the best example."
Favorite Moment: When Lorne kills Lindsey. It's a difficult scene to watch, but it's emotional and shows the depth of Andy's character. Also, when Lorne threatens Eve (aka Lilah-lite) and punches her in the face. That scene really shows Lorne's feelings for Fred.
Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: Lady Marmalade, hands down.
When Lorne's at his best: Always.
Worst moment: Being decapitated was kinda weird...
Final thoughts: Fantastic character, fantastic actor, fantastic singer... Fantastic portrayal and no one could've done it like Andy did... Bravo, and you are missed...

Favourite Quotes:A lot of the best ones have been taken, but here goes... Angel: Two hundred highly intelligent law school graduates workin' full-time drivin' me crazy. Why the hell is everyone so surprised that it's working? But, no. It's, "Angel, why are you so cranky? Angel, you should lighten up. You should smile. You should wear a nice plaid,"Lorne: Oo, not this season, honey. "Happy Anniversary" Lorne: [Telling Cordelia about a spell that will restore her memory] Trust me, sweetness. There *no way* this can go wrong. Lorne: [narrating to the audience] So I'm an idiot. What are you, perfect? "Spin the Bottle" Lorne: And believe me, Milk Dud, speaking as the head of your PR department, we need all the face we can get. Angel: Milk Dud? Lorne: Said with affection. "Lift of the Party" Lorne: So I am covered in cherries. The police are just pounding on the door, and Judi Dench starts screaming, "Oh, that's way too much to pay for a pair of pants!" "Lineage" Gunn: Yeah, I was just in [Wesley's] office, and...Lorne: Oh, God, don't go in there! That's where he keeps his full-strength crazy."Time Bomb" Favourite Moment:So many small moments, many of which have already been mentioned. I always enjoy his few centric episodes like "The House Always Wins" and "Life of the Party". I also love when he uses his singing powers offensively, like in "Happy Anniversary", the Pylea episodes, and "The House Always Wins". There's an episode in season three where he distracts someone by singing before kicking him in the balls, but I can't remember which one it is... Favourite Lorne/Andy Hallet singing performance:Lady Marmalade in "The House Always Wins", Don't Leave Me This Way in "Life of the Party". I also love his introduction in "Judgement" where he comes in looking scary and evil before pulling out a microphone and singing I Will Survive... best introduction ever. Worst Moment:Telling Fred to keep running in "Fredless"... talk about bad advice. Final Thoughts:Although he was always the least developed of the main characters, Lorne was a crucial element of the cast. In a dark series full of dark characters, Lorne quite literally brought colour to the show with his energy and humour. I especially loved his close friendship with Angel, the two characters were such polar opposites but they had a great rapport and Angel really relied on Lorne for emotional support.

I can't quote it exactly and don't know the episode's name, but I always remember that one thing Lorne said to mr science guy who wanted to stop time in a perfect moment.
Something like "If you sing a note for a while - well, I could hold it forever - that's not music, it's just noise. The real music comes from the sucession of different notes, the highs and lows. And it's the same thing with life."
I never looked at the character the same way after that. He easily became one of my favorites in all of the Buffyverse.

Here's the exact quote: Host: " I-I think what my chipper friend is trying to say here, Gene, is the wheel keeps turning. You can't stop it. Sometimes things get worse, sometimes they get better." Gene: " I want the wheel to stop - which probably explains the whole time in a box disaster. I can't emphasize enough how sorry I am about that." Host: " It just don't work, Gene-y. It's like a song. Now, I can hold a note for a long time (laughs) actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music."

OMG, I just found out that Andy Hallet had passed away earlier this week How outta the loop am I? He was such a wonderful man, and his amazing talents brought such an amazing and charismatic character to life in a way I don't think anyone anywhere could ever hope to replicate or aspire to. Lorne was such an amaxing character to watch and experience. Favourite Quote(s): "Jeez, keep your pants on. Well, I can see we're a little late with that advice." "Remember when I said I loved this dimension and I'm never, never, never gonna leave? Exactly which "never" did you not understand?" "I'm the Host...have you met me? I never shut up!" (singing to Connor) "Go to sleep, lullaby You've been fed and your sleepy You'll be with Uncle Lorne Who in no way resents not being asked to go to the ballet And is certainly, not thinking Of selling you to the first vampire cult that makes him a decent offer." (holding puppet Angel, all torn an battered)"Is there a Gepetto in the house?" Favourite Moment: That has got to be during the Pylea episodes when all Lorne is is a head in a basket, Cordy's staring down at him .... and then he starts to talk! lmfao! Favourite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: Lady Marmala from the Las Vegas episode When Lorne's at his best: there's so many I can't really pin 'em down Worst moment: there was a bad moment? Not for me! Final thoughts: R.I.P. Andy - you will be missed! The world will be a poor place for not having you in it

Favorite Quote(s): There are way too many to list. His lines were always great.
Favorite Moment: I loved all the Pylea episodes, and the Life of the Party episode in Season 5. That was great. Oh, and the one where he's in Vegas. LOL
Favorite Lorne/Andy Hallett singing performance: All of them.
When Lorne's at his best: Singing, duh.
Worst moment: When he killed Lindsey and walked away. I never liked that.
Final thoughts: Lorne wasn't really one of my favorite characters, but I liked him very much. He was always great. I'll never forget the first time Angel had to sing in his club, or when he was singing in Pylea and everyone hated it. LOL
