So much to discuss
- Is the black guy Jacob? - What's up with Claire? - Was Locke destined for the island the whole time? (special school, science camp, walkabout) - How did the doctor end up dead on the island before he was killed on the boat? - How is Jack and Claire's dad connected to the island?

That episode was fairly odd...even by LOST's standoff. Looks like a good setup for the finale though.
My opinion's on Slayer LVs questions:
-I sincerley doubt the black guy is Jacob. He's used the name Abaddon before, which means roughly "place of destruction" and is talked about in the original Bible (the one with all the demons and none of the blatant sexism and homophobia in it before the church altered it) and is often considered to be Satan or another being of absolute evil. The House of Jacob however, represents peace and is refered to frequently in the passage concering the coming of the messanic age. Very shortened, it talks about going up to the house of Jacob, asking for advice, then theres a purgory (sp?) where sinners get burned, and then the messiah comes and then believers who are dead will come back to life. The whole Isaiah passage fits in very well with LOSTs plot actually. But yeah, going of on a tangent there. Anyway, as I said, I doubt black guy is Jacob. The names don't make sense.
-I don't have the foggiest idea what's up with Claire. I thought she still hated Christian, even if he is her dad.
-Didn't the guy ask him which of the items he'd used before or something? Maybe the dodgy time thingy is coming into play, and at that time when he's little, he's somehow already been there?
-That one I can answer. It's the dodgy time zones thing. There's a delay of time as you leave the island, proved by Faraday's little rockets. The island is slightly in the future, so thats how the body washed up before the doctor was killed.
-Can't answer that one. Though it may have something to do with the passage I quoted in the first bullet point. (True believers or christians coming back to life)

Abaddon being Jacob doesn't make any sense. Not just in name terms, but also in his actions we've seen so far. Why would Jacob need to ask Hurley if the other losties are alive? Why would he be involved with the Frieghter recruitment?
I didn't really like the episode if I'm honest. I liked the bit where Hurley gave Ben some choc, and really liked the captain (shame he got shot). I was really anticipating this ep so I guess I expected too much.
