I really enjoyed this episode. Michael's life really is just HORRIBLE. He has been through more crap than any character on the show so far. Walt taken from him, killing Ana Lucia and Libby, then going back to NY and attempting suicide, THEN being coerced back into working for Ben again, just utter hell.
I was always a fan of Michael's so I am glad he is back. I loved his early flashback episode's and the attempts at mending his relationship with his son, and then Walt getting taken away at the end of Season 1 was just heartbreaking. Then when he killed Ana and Libby, by far the most shocking episode of the series.

I dug it. I always like when the writers go back and fill in holes in the continuity with flashbacks, and they've done that really well this year.
The ending was really a shocker for me, though. When Karl was shot I figured that would be the end of the episode, and that the big "OMGSOME1DIEZ" event would be as underwhelming as Nikki and Paolo from last season. I'm sad to see Rousseau go, but I'm also happy they didn't go with a cop-out on the death hype.
Though, honestly, I would've rather seen 'er go down in an epic battle of sorts. That's the kinda' death that would've been way more dignified and worthy of her character.

Yeah that ending was pretty tense, and very well filmed.
I wonder if Rousseau is really dead? It all happened so fast and the episode ending really quickly soon after she was shot, soI just don't know. I'd like her to still be around as we need her flashbacks!

I thought killing Danielle off was one hell of a cop-out. There's so much material for her that they seemed to want to tell; now it seems that she got the boot cause the story has moved on. In fact, for a "last episode" it was pretty weak. 3/4 of an episode on a flashback that frankly didn't tell you much. I like Michael but not a lot really happened in the run time.

I pretty much agree with Henz. I wasn't a huge fan of this episode. The flashbacks went on way too long, and I don't even like Michael much anyway, I'm still irritable about him killing my two favorite characters off in a single episode. And there wasn't as much tension and action as there could have been in the final scenes. BTW, was this the last episode before the hiatus? Does anyone know how long it is till the next one?

It was the last one. Episode 9 "The Shape of Things to Come" is April 24th.

I just discovered Lost. Watched all of the episodes (Seasons 1-4) in the last two weeks (which is why I ended up giving up on no tv for Lent!). Talk about an addiction.
This episode definitely wasn't my favorite one, but it filled in a lot of holes. I've been dying to know what happened to Michael, and we found out all in one episode. I like that it wasn't drug out. And I'm so glad Sayid turned him in to the captain.

I agree with henz.
i thought killing danielle off was a massive cop out.
I really think season4 they have been missing out on a LOT of good material.
I was expecting a big claire episode in relation to her finding out charlie died at the beginning of the season. Im really annoyed all we got was her hugging hurley and now shes all dandy. argh.
season 4 of lost just really isnt doing it for me. Which is wierd cos I think season 1/2/3 are freaking amazing television.

I honestly thought this was a boring episode, it was nice that we know what happened to Michael but I felt like the story went nowhere. I think the only shocking part was Danielle's death at the end.
