Article: Smallville: Episode 7.12 "Fracture" Recap
Source: BuddyTV
What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than by watching a new episode of Smallville? I can think of about 47, but nonetheless, here we are, so we might as well enjoy, even if the Green Arrow won't be making another half-naked appearance.
In a rainy junk yard in Detroit, Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) and Lois Lane (Erica Durance) are running around searching for Kara. They split up, and Lois finds an amnesiac Kara (Laura Vandervoort) who's being locked up in a room by some crazy guy named Jimmy. Crazy Jimmy (played by generic himbo Corey Sevier) shows up and pulls a gun on Lois, then Lex arrives and pulls a gun on Jimmy. After a short standoff, they both fire, and while Jimmy is injured, Lex slowly falls to his knees, then goes down. Wait, I thought it was the show after this one where a major character gets killed?
Crazy Jimmy locks Lois in the cage with Kara. The amnesiac exposits that she worked in a diner and Crazy Jimmy is the nice diner owner's son or something. They're both certain Lex is dead. At the Metropolis Hospital, Lionel (John Glover) informs Clark (Tom Welling) that his son is in a coma. Did I miss something, because I don't get why everyone is so concerned about Lex's health, him being evil and all. Lionel shows Clark and Chloe (Allison Mack) a photo of Lex with Kara on Lois' phone. Chloe wants to use her healing power to fix Lex and get the truth.
Clark doesn't approve, so Lana (Kristin Kreuk) helps them with some techno-babble about a machine that can let you go into someone's mind. Clark wants to do it, probably inspired by last week's episode of Supernatural where the Winchesters did some dreamwalking. In Lex's crazy mind, the only way Clark can escape is through a Red Door. It's hilarious how they're trying to make this seem even remotely believable.
In LexLand, Clark sees Kara flirting with Jimmy in the diner. Lex is a patron, and Kara (who goes by “Linda”) has no clue who he is. She tells him she has amnesia, and Lex offers to bring some researchers in to help her. Another Lex, in a white suit, finds Clark in his mind and chokes him, ordering him out of his head. Lex's good child self, Alexander, comes along to help Clark escape from White Suit Lex, hiding him in a secret part of LexLand.
The reason White Suit Lex never visits this memory is because it's where Lionel beats Alexander until the kid spills the beans on his mom, who was snooping in Lionel's briefcase for information about a secret project called Vertas. Lionel knocks his wife around in front of Alexander.
Clark makes his way back to the diner where Lex is flirting with Kara, who researched him and thinks he's a humanitarian. She agrees to go with him to get help curing her amnesia. Lois arrives to interrogate Lex's motives, when the two hear a clatter in the back.
White Suit Lex roughs Clark up some more, then makes Clark watch Lex and Lana getting it on. Ha, that is awesomely cruel. Alexander returns to help Clark, taking him to the junkyard where the episode started. Clark finds the GPS to track Kara, but before he reaches the Red Door, he sees White Suit Lex threatening to kill Alexander. For some reason, Clark tries to help a figment in Lex's mind rather than leave safely.
In the real world, Lex is going into cardiac arrest, so the doctor rips open his shirt and tries to bring him back, to no avail. Since Clark is trapped in Lex's mind, if Lex dies, Clark dies. Then Lex dies, for the second time this episode (wow, this is really the Night of 1,000 Deaths on the CW). Chloe says she can save him.
Back in LexLand, White Suit Lex is about to run a sword through Alexander when Chloe touches the real Lex and brings him back to life, giving Clark a chance to kick White Suit Lex's ass. Part of me thinks Michael Rosenbaum had a lot of fun getting to beat up a little kid. Alexander begs Clark to stay, but Clark tells Alexander to keep fighting. Clark goes through the Red Door to find Chloe unconscious, and tells Lionel to do nothing but take her home.
Meanwhile, the girls in the cage pick the lock and escape, but Crazy Jimmy is back. They try to run, but are found by Crazy Jimmy, still crazy, still holding a gun. Clark arrives in the nick of time and flings Crazy Jimmy across the junkyard. It's so much easier when you're not finding super-powered Kryptonians or dream people.
Lex is back in fine form, questioning how he's perfectly fine after being shot. Lionel claims it was some special Oliver Queen-created healing serum. Lionel says,”I love you Lex, my son.” Lex doesn't respond.
The next morning Chloe is back to normal after being clinically dead for 18 hours, making jokes. Clark instructs her never to do it again, but Chloe is headstrong about using her healing power when and how she wants. You go girl, “My Body, My Choice!”
Clark heads over to interrogate Lex about what happened in Detroit. Lex is bored by Clark, who is desperately looking for some hint of Alexander in him. He fails, then Lex goes to convince Kara to have the treatment to find out the truth. Hey, that's what “Veritas” means, which is also the title of the final pre-strike episode of Smallville.
