I think that scene was intentionally bad... to illustrate how Ballard is starting to go around the bend with his obsessions.
I've really liked both Dichen and Miracle in this show so far. They haven't exactly been asked to do any Oscar-level acting yet. But if there's anything that all Whedon shows have in common, it's the out-of-nowhere casting that turns out to be brilliant. Dollhouse won't be an exception.

I think that Dichen has done a good job so far in this show. I haven't seen her in anything else, but i don't doubt she used to be bad.... *shrug* The girl is beautiful, though... that's probably why she got the job. I love the way Miracle has played Mellie so far... but November hasn't really been shown as much as the other actives... so i want more of her. Oh and also we all know that Joss' shows tend to make actors amazing. (ex: Charisma Carpenter & Nicholas Brendon) They weren't very good, before they got into buffy... now they are awesome.  |

I thought that when they cast Dichen Lachman, but so far, I think she's done a great job, especially with the rape subplot. In "Needs" she was quite "wooden" and not very convincing as her regular self, but perhaps that was due to not having all her memories back, she was reserved and not "complete".

I think that her acting is good in Dollhouse.
I seen her in neighbours also and she was terrible.
I think her acting has come a long way since then.

I watched some clips from "Neighbors", and OMG, she really sucked. I had no idea.
But she is great as Sierra. She was awesome as the geeky number one fan and as Taffy. I loved her on "Needs" too.
Hey, remember David Boreanaz and how he couldn't act? The same thing. Only Dichen's acting improved much faster (and much more) than his.

I third that scene ^^^ It kinda made me sick and then laugh at the same time...just awkward.
I love Miracle. I like that Joss had some diversity in the casting of the members, and she can be a badass. I love it when she kills the creepy handler...it's so chilling yet AGAIN with the badass-ness. I like how cute Mellie is; I just want to see more from the actor. More action, more fighting.

I'm afraid I've never seen the other she was in so I can't make comparisons, but as for her acting in the show, I'm okay with it. While I feel like she isn't exactly the best in the cast, I don't feel like her performance is shotty either. So far I think she was a good choice.
Maybe her horrible reviews from that other show were why Joss cast her. Would it surprise anyone?

I'll admit I was very scared for the show considering I am an Australian and watch Neighbours most days of my life! Hahaha. Neighbours is reknowned for it' terrible acting, and I tought "Katya" was just another bad wannabe actress.
Now, watchin Dollhouse I have to say I am completely taken aback! She's a million times better than I expected and she hasn't even resembled her neighbour's days character.
Maybe you have to act like a bad actor to be on neighbours? If your too good you'll just stick out like a sore thumb ("Do sore thumbs really stick out?...have you ever seen someone with a thumb sticking out and say "Wow that baby looks sore!" LOL)

It was an action scene, though. She had no dialogue. Outside of some good choreography, it didn't really show her acting range to any real degree. Hopefully we'll see more of her, but it does seem like she's going to be Mellie for a while yet... We may actually see some badass November sooner than you think. Dichen is fantastic. Miracle is also very good. The only cast member I'm not entirely sold on is Franz. He was great this past episode, though. He's just... I don't know. Not as good as he should be. I hope he keeps his performance as consistently good as it was last time. Then, he might have potential to be awesome.

Until ep. 10, I pretty much hated Topher as a character. This was the first time I found him likable. I assumed that I was supposed to hate him, so I thought he must be doing an OK job. His scenes with Sierra were touching and made him more accessible. |

^ I agree. I haven't actually been able to feel for Topher yet. I slightly dislike him but don't hate or love him!
Hopefully ep. 10 hits home for me too! I'd really like to see more dimensions of him.
