Why isn't anyone doing anything?

Dollhouse is in real need of help.

Chuck is to and the actors are deeply involved on trying to get a next season and participating but for Dollhouse NO ONE is doing anything what so ever helping?!?! why is that? I keep hearing about Chuck fans and crew working hard to get a new season but for Dollhouse all I hear is Eliza keep saying everythings going great and I think we can all say that's BS.

So what do you guys think

Well...do you have any ideas of what fans can do?

With firefly they organised some kind of ad-page in a magazine or something but I don't know much about it?

If anyone has any ideas maybe we could do it as a forum and get everyone to put in some effort?

Dollhouse fans are trying! We've talked about this before on the forum. Everyone, including myself, are forcing their friends to watch episodes, hoping they will be attached to it and watch the next episode. You can also raise the views by watching it on Hulu, DVR, and FOX. That's the most we can do, the only thing FOX cares about is how many views it gets so we just have to give it the most views we can. I often let the episode just play through on Hulu when I leave the house. Every view counts.

And as for the cast, I'm sure they're trying their best to keep their jobs. It's just not going public about what they're doing.

I think the cast and crew (namely the creators) are doing something. They aren't publicly campaigning, but that doesn't mean they aren't doing anything. I think Joss is talking to the network and looking at the numbers and making the network feel more comfortable with them. Dollhouse actors don't need to show their support for the show, of course they do, it's a job. I don't think those kinds of demonstrations would be demonstrable of the Dollhouse base or grab viewers to make the network more comfortable with ordering another season.

People don't want to invest in shows that a) don't grab their attention and b) are impending cancellation. Cancellation buzz was thrumming before Dollhouse premiered and the first few episodes were good, but they weren't grabbing viewers. It has since vastly improved and cancellation buzz is jumbled.

All FOX needs to do is order an entire season and let Joss do his thing. Give it a chance, it would be less expensive than building another set, recasting etc. Networks, IMO, are ADD when it comes to line ups: they don't give promising shows a chance to build an audience. I'm hoping FOX goes against the grain in Dollhouse's case.

Petitions are nice but I don't think it's gonna help. FOX is only interested in ratings and not how many people want the show to have a second season.

I agree. But I thought there were no harm in signing it. The thing that bugs me most is that even though people start petitions they dont send them forward to FOX (and therefore there is no point in even having one)

iTunes/DVD sales and Hulu/DVR ratings are going to help the most. I signed a petition but I really don't think it carries any weight with the network. I watch it every Saturday on Hulu, buy the HD version on iTunes and have pre-ordered the DVD set. That's really the most viewers can do.

What can non US viewers do? We don't have it on TV. can't access it through whatever hulu is or itunes or anyother way except illegal downloading!! How are we suppose to save it when we don't even seen it until the s2 is scrapped or signed! (hopefully it's the latter)

I don't think we can really do anything. I myself have googled and signed a few online petitions but they hardly help at all.
I have comented on loads of fan videos on youtube to spread the word and have convinced alot of Americans to watch it on sites like myspace, facebook and bebo.

Other than that we cant do anything.

I just sent this:

Please renew Dollhouse or release the rights to it so that another network can pick it up. It's an amazing show that deserves another chance with the full backing of the network.

Here's the deal: people believe networks err on the side of canceling. People don't want to invest in a serialized show unless the networks show good faith in it. I was disappointed by the way in which Dollhouse was handled: Scheduled in the "death slot" behind a struggling show, scrapping the original pilot for likes of 5 episodic episodes (which in all honesty were lackluster), then abandoning the show PR- and advertising-wise after "Man on the Street". For a show on Friday nights above all else, it should be supported and advertised by the network. Otherwise you're just throwing your money away. The second half rocked the way Joss had intended it to, but in the view of the audience, it had a great chance of being canceled despite its merit.

Whedon's a story teller. If storytelling isn't for FOX or its audience, please release the rights of Dollhouse instead of just not renewing. Allow it to go to another network that would compliment their line up. It has great potential to be as big as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If the show were renewed and allowed to be serial, in a decent slot, with decent advertising, I have no doubt this show could be quite popular. Other networks have serial shows that are very popular, which is great for viewers like me who are bored by episodic and murder-by-numbers shows. Dollhouse isn't boring or predictable. All it needs is to be supported by a network for a season or so to gain a regular following.

(Since I'm being honest here, I feel like American Idol, though popular and brings in lots of money, is boring beyond everything else and because of its schedule, it even detracts viewing from FOX's better episodic shows like Bones, because let's face it, if you're looking for the episodic viewer, are they likely to check the schedule?)

One more thing regarding ratings. I don't have cable. Most of my friends don't. We're in college or fresh out and don't have the time or money for cable. I get most of my media from the internet, and I believe advertising should be bigger on sites like hulu. At least with video streaming sites you can have actual numbers instead of estimates, that should be more valuable to advertisers than the promise of a certain number of viewers. Streaming video is even better than DVR where you can fast forward through ads. Sites like hulu are the next stage in digital media broadcasting, and it's where I would be hard selling advertising for revenue on shows like Dollhouse which attract massive numbers of viewers like me who don't even have cable.
