Very interesting, Emmie, I like this. Just checked out the fanfic glossary to see if there's anything I don't know bout the lingo. Well, I know a fair few, but it doesn't hurt. Thanks for this

These are great, I had no idea what fanfic terms meant! There are so many I haven't read all the links yet so not sure if this is one of the bottom ones. littlecalamity.tripod.com/HowTo2.htmlit is a how to write marginally readable fanfic by the person who did that glossary of terms. It seems like it has SOME good stuff and it easy to read.

Thanks for working so hard to get us this list Em! Writing Fanfic seems to have so much more to it than I could have ever imagined. Eeek! I'm sure my first ones will suck... I'm a big fan of poetry and I just thought I would post this link for those who might not be familiar with the different types of poems. www.shadowpoetry.com/resources/wip/types.html

Glad to hear that someone else loves poetry Scoobie.
As far as posting any of my work, I am seriously overtly self-analyzing and would probably have a nervous breakdown after posting some of my older work. Well not really but I will think about it. Though, you are forewarned that a lot of it is kinda sad since I get the urge to write most often when I am hurting.

So do I, it's the most vivid material to work with where the cliches aren't all run dry already. I have a couple of mine up.. Purge & Patches (Two of my better ones) and two crap ones (Neglected & Dead Hopes) There are the threads in the poetry/fanfic section if you care so look! But no one does so that's okay if you don't! Once you've seen how bad mine are I hope you'll have to confidence to post some of yours! Or PM to me!

I will definitely take a look at the works you have put up.
I am at home on disability leave and I have so much free time and can actually sit and read things that I had no time for before. This is actually the reason I have been a member since "may 2008" but made my first post in may 2009.
P.S - (This is in no way a reflection of your work or my desire to read it but just a side note)

This was posted by someone on my LJ flist this morning, and I've just had a quick scan through it and it seems pretty interesting. It's geared slightly to writing HP fic - in that the author uses examples from the HP fandom (although I did notice some links to essays written by people in the Buffy fandom) - but there's some good general advice. Just checked this out and think that some of the sources will help me in business writing to (the ten mistakes column, for example). Thanks!
