I think the chances of it getting the back 9 and future seasons are pretty high at this point. FOX renewed the show with laughable ratings, huge online buzz, and at the same time "drastically" lowered the budget. If Dollhouse keeps performing at the level it's at on a Friday night, there should be no reason not to keep it around.

I've been avidly following the renewal conundrum, and I'm so glad it's finally decided that the series will come back for another season. Instead of focusing on all the drama of cancellation, we can move past that and get to working up theories for the new season, new characters, new missions, and the new big bad. I loved the extra 10 minutes of awesomeness, but for Dollhouse the loss could certainly work as an advantage point from which Joss can make the writing more concise, the dialogue tighter, among other things. I'm with Andrew on why Fox would choose to keep Dollhouse on Friday nights, but I could also see it doing quite well if paired up with a strong series like Fringe which despite it's strong sci-fi base (especially towards the season finale), has never dipped below 7 million viewers and hit 12 and 13 million viewers quite frequently for a new series. I agree. If T:SCC isn't renewed, I'd like to see it paired with Fringe. Mooch off that viewership cow. I head that they may be pairing it with "Human Target", a new show based on a comic book series. It stars one of the dudes from Fringe and Jackie Earl Haley (is that his name?) from Watchmen. I'm happy to see that they are moving forward and its not all about ratings. We are in a new era where a lot of other things factor in. I'd like to say the fans helped save this one too! |

So how often does it happen that FOX says "You get to do a full season"? Is it common that the people working on a show doesn't know if it will be half or full? When do they find out?
How often does it happen that the company changes their minds and say "Sorry, you have to wrap it up within two episodes" when the writers expected a full season?

Apparently NBC is only renewing their shows with 13 eps, including Heroes. Perhaps this is something we will see a lot of this year.

with news that 'So you think you can dance' will be on Fox's Fall schedule - it kind of leaves a big quesion mark on what Fox plans on doing w/ their fall schedule.
Fox will not air 'human target' on Fridays w/ Dollhouse (even though that may make the most sense on paper. it will likely air on tuesdays w/ Fringe.
what is fox going to do with Hell's Kitchen w/ the dance show taking up 2 hours during the week?
i honestly think it might be best for fox to leave dollhouse for midseason (a la Lost, 24) and let it run through for 13 eps and 13 eps only.
i'd hate to be left w/ a semi-complete season.
plus it allows for fox to play all their crazy scheduling games on what appears to be a very full Fall schedule...

Gah.
They completely mess up all the scheduling, especially American Idol. Can't stand those shows + they interfere with my TV viewing, even if I don't watch TV live much anymore. They don't release TV shows to the internet on the right day when the show is scheduled all wonky.

This is wonderful news and I am ecstatic. I have fallen in love with this show just as I did with Buffy and Angel, and Firefly. Joss manages to bring it EVERY time and I am glad that this is getting another chance, which Firefly didnt have (unless you count the film). The show really makes me think and once again, like Buffy provides an escape. Thank you JESUS.

Still not sure exactly what Felicia Day's role will be in episode 13 or how she will relate to the other characters... but I wonder if there's a chance she'll be a regular in season 2?

So, Fox's schedule was released. It had Dollhouse for 9pm on Friday all year. Does this mean it got a full 22 episode order?

Good eyes, Joe. I didn't catch that. I don't want to get my hopes up because all reports have said that only 13 episodes were ordered. Perhaps they are leaning toward ordering a full season eventually?

It would be great if it did have a full season. I finally realised why FOX have a habbit of making friday nights sci fi night. FOX like alot of people assume that sci fi fans have no life and are free any night of the week  |
