As the bile and fecal matter hit the proverbial fan (across the globe), I thought it'd be nice to think about what we would want in a Buffy film(s) if they were to infact come to fruition.
Here is my idea:
1) Do away with Sunnydale and most events from the show. The establishment of the term 'Hellmouth' is important. And it should be noted that Buffy once lived on and guarded one. But that is all!
2) Start the film with a 10 minute prologue explaining and showing the creation of the First Slayer, the world of demons and magic on earth, and dimensions. Think "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" Maybe even do it in shadow, similar to the story from Get It Done!
3) Gloss that Buffy was this generations Vampire Slayer, but state in voice-over (from Buffy) that she changed the world with a little help from her friends, activation and sharing her power with all girls with potential worldwide. (Re-film that amazing scene and show that!)
4) Start the film with 'the worlds all different' speel, from Buffy's voiceover. We enter the scene with the slayers hopping from the helicopter to infiltrate the church.
Go from there.
Follow the Twilight plot, but I would take out things like the Dawn plot, and the Satsu love story. I don't know if all that would fit and resonate with an ignorant audience the way it did with established fans.
That's all for now...

A movie version of the basic major arcs of Season 8. Getting rid of the stuff that's not that important, condensing, etc. With a new ending.

Also, leave it open-ended to allow room for growth in sequels.

I like the beginning a lot. Maybe less than 10 minutes for the creation of the first slayer, how's about 2 minutes? After S8 is finished we should create a screenplay of S8 together as a forum, it could be a group effort! EDIT: I'm an idiot

The helicopter jump scene would be major, and we'd also get to have Buffy/Xander communication which would also serve as Xander's intro. From this scene we'd learn they work together, that he supports her although he is just a normal guy without supernatural powers. Willow's entry to the film may have to be altered so we learn more about her before her fight with Amy. First Movie: Many elements from The Long Way Home, along with giving origins to characters and whatever story element would be needed for that. Give Faith a role in the first movie with the Scoobies in Scotland. The big fight and the Willow rescue would serve as a good ending for the first movie. End with Willow rescued, a hint about Twilight, Faith being shipped off to Cleveland while the Scoobies enjoy some rest and relaxation...maybe end with Buffy looking out the window uneasy then joining the gang's celebrations.

Are we talking about season 8 films, or just anything Buffy? The whole subject here has me a bit confused. Or maybe Im just dumb.

hmm....i'd say an alternate seaosn 8. i honestly am not digging the plot a lot. i read it and love it, but i prefer the book Dark Congress to it (so far. i'm not done it). something like that would be cool.

Ideal.... As long as it takes place in the same continuity as the comics (doesn't have to deal with events that happened) and Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles and Dawn are there, I'm game for anything. Just give me a 2-2.5 hour movie that revisits the characters and the actors with a story that starts and ends... I'm set for life.

Simple plot. Military scientist who is a white supremicist has been developing a biological weapon that will wipe out anyone with demon DNA in their system. But he has been using this as a base in secret to concoct a version that will kill anyone who belongs to what he considers to be a deviant class (different races, sexual orientations and such).
Buffy would have to try and figure out what was going on beofre she, the other potentials and indeed others like Willow were infected and killed. As well as being a good possibility for lots of action it would also have something to say about ethnic cleansing and the horrors of wishing to shun if not exterminate that which is different and which is often labelled "evil" by those wishing to make gain out of victimising them.
Dark but deadly as a plot.

CowboyGuy, I love your idea. And I can totally see it just how you explain it.
How does this sound? The theater lights dim, it's quiet, then the picture fades in of a dark, prehistoric setting. As we're not quite able to make out what we're seeing - a cave? A desert? A fire? Shaman? Then Buffy's voice, telling us: this is how it all began: One girl, in all the world, chosen to fight the forces of darkness (whether she wanted to or not).
Then the scene starts to grow violent as the girl in chains struggles, the shaman lift their voices and chant as a mysterious shadow emanates with unearthly groans from the darkest recesses of the cave. Then we hear Buffy again: the first slayer was a girl, young, innocent, alone.
We see the shadow overtake the girl, screaming, the chants rising in a cacophony mixed with monstrous wailing of... monsters... and then smash cut to darkness, and silence. Fade in to a cold cave, with a strip of morning sunlight illuminating the scene: the girl's alone, save for the mangled corpse of the demon in the dirt, and a lone shaman which steps out of the shadows to tell her: you're chosen by the spirits; you'll walk in darkness, forever, to slay the evil that hides in the shadows. -- Btw, I'm sure with a lot of creative editing, you could probably lift a lot of the opening monologue of Buffy's from the show. You just need someone with all the scripts, and time to find and match words and tone. Or you can use actors.

Well, as anyone who's seen my arguing on the reboot thread will know, I actually think rebooting is the best way to go for a Buffy movie. I don't think a film or even a series of films, would have time to do the existing continuity and it's various characters justice. It would take years to make and everyone would get their hopes up, and then feel disappointed because it all felt rushed and their favourite character(s) didn't get enough screentime. I think taking it all back to the original concept of a cheerleader who fights vampires is a great idea. They could focus on Buffy's initial arc from superficial valley girl to an empowered superhero, something that's never really been done well (between the Swanson movie and the rather dodgy Origin comic). This is a pretty good idea. The fact you've actually thought about the subtext lends it greater credibility than most fan ideas. I like the idea of Buffy and the Slayers weighing up their own lives between ridding the world of demons altogether. It's a little similar to the whole end of magic/Twilight storyline in Season Eight though.
