DAWN;; s u m m e r sAlot of people actually don't like Dawn. I really just don't understand why. I personally think she was a great character and a nice add to the storyline.
Yeah she cried alot, complained alot and was annoying but that was the whole point of her. She was the younger sister and well she found out she was not real, she opened the door to a hell world that would kill everyone and her mother died.... she had alot of issues.
However when she was on the town in the Gift i grew to love her as she tried to jump into the portal herself. She was willing to kill her self to save others. In my eyes that made her a core pat of the Scooby Gang.
During season 7 & 8 she is maturing and i feel will become quite the women like her sister.
So all i wanna do is hear peoples love or like for her.

I like her a lot in seasons 7 & 8, and she was unintentional comic relief in season 5. Heh.

I don't mind Dawn. She's kind of annoying and whiny at times, but she's all right.
Actually, I think that perhaps my view of Dawn has been influenced by fanon. Fic writers tend to be a lot more sympathetic to Dawn than how she came across in the show.

Okay don't laugh, but when was younger I had "Harriet the Spy" and she did that same line exactly the way she did it on Buffy. Anyway I must admit she was a brat in Season 5, but she did grow on me as well. I have never thouht though she was the worst character on Buffy like alot of people do. I liked her best in the end in of season 6 and on. She had matured.

Hated her in early season 5, then she grew on me. Couldn't hate her after Blood Ties. I think she's cool, and I wish she had had more episodes focusing on her, not just Real me, Blood Ties, All the way, Older and far away and Potential(did I forget one?)

Living Doll? I never hated Dawn. Even when she was bratty. It was kinda understandable. I grew to like Dawn and she's one of my favourites

I couldn't help but seeing Michelle as that character for awhile when I first saw her on Buffy. Anyway, I never really hated Dawn. She was put into a tough situation from the beginning not really being alive an all. She had every reason to be a bit of brat in season 5, especially after she found out about herself. I thought the writers could have done more with her after season 5. According to IMDb, she was originally going to have the power to talk to the dead and to move stuff with her mind, but they scrapped those ideas. I don't get why. I would have loved to see that. I don't think people would hate her as much as they do now, if they gave her at least on of those powers. Oh well, such is life.

I was a little unsure about Dawn in the beginning (wondering who this new person was intruding on the world I knew and loved so well), but as time wore on I began to accept Dawn as if she had been there all along. From then on, I have loved and cared for her as much as any other scooby. I have never understood the hatred for Dawn and generally think that fans are too hard on her. Sure, she whined and complained a lot in the beginning, but did she not have reason to? Finding out you're a mystical ball of energy and then losing your mother AND sister is a lot to deal with. I think Dawn was doing the best she could to cope with an impossible situation. To be so young and have so much thrust upon her. Did she even get time to really be a kid and just enjoy life? Yeah, Dawn had a lot to overcome but she got through it and became and even stronger and capable person as a result. In S7 and now in S8, you can see how much she has grown and matured into a responsible young woman. Yay for Dawn.

While I think it would have been awesome for her to have powers then we wouldn't have gotten her thing with Xander in Potentials which is when I stopped thinking she was intensely annoying. I think why a lot of people don't like Dawn (and I completely admit to this) is because Michelle Tratchenberg got to be on Buffy. Plain and simple. Come on, how many nights have you come up with ways you could have been integrated into the cast and not only has an extra or arch character but in the inner sanctum of scoobidom. So really I think its jealousy because she got what we all wanted. And I'm sure people had plenty of other more plausible ways to be integrated into the Scooby Gang, so not only did she get that spot but it was in a "wait ... WTF??" kinda way. So yea

I do really like the character of Dawn. Sure she can be crabby sometimes, but what other characters didn't have some bad moments? I really like her in seasons 6 & 7.

For me, liking Dawn was easy. I was familiar with Michelle b/c of her previous work (Pete & Pete being the most recognizable). When she became a cast member on Buffy I was just absolutely ecstatic. The writing actually didn't bother me for her character. I understood her as the role as a little sister. She felt left out, ignored by her sister, and later had to come into terms with her actual existence. So in other words, I get Dawn. She's a wonderful girl who I love dearly. To Buffyfan's icon- " Dear God in heaven. What What What???!!"

I've always liked Dawn. Mainly because I started watching Buffy when I was around eight. And I started watching the fifth season when I was around nine or ten. Dawn became the youngest character on the show, so I liked her. She was more close to my age. I still like her, she never really got on my nerves. I'm fifteen now & I feel like I can relate to her, in some small ways.

I admit, when I was in my younger teens watching Buffy when it was still on I was not a fan of her in the beginning of Season 5. As buffyfan21 pointed out so well in her post "Who was this character intruding on The Buffy Verse".
However, I believe this was intentional by Joss. For fans to be somewhat annoyed with the character as the naive sibling you just wanted to shake a little through that television set yet eventually as a younger viewer when watching Buffy and now--we saw and learned she was an innocent. Oddly, when the monk is describing what Dawn is to Buffy it makes me become somewhat teary because you can see in Buffy's eyes that it's not just the responsiblity of protecting an innocent--yet an innocent made from her bloodline. A sister bond is quite powerful and as you see this develop I became more accepting and attached to her.
However, it would upset me how she would blame Buffy for either ignoring her after their mother's death and then after Buffy is eventually brought back to life. The mother issue I understood because she was grieving and this was difficult for her to handle. I just didn't feel it excused her being angry at Buffy for working 24/7 to support her--when Buffy is still having to deal with discovering her place in the world again.
Or when she was again angry at Buffy when Willow ended up injurying and possibly almost killing Dawn by being reckless. I guess this goes back to the point that Dawn really admired and loved her sister, so felt she should be superwoman.
I agree though. I grew to like her more during Season 7 and 8.
