Has anyone else here seen the unaired pilot to the tv series? pretty funny and who the hell was the actress that played Willow in it??

I've seen it. Riff regan I believe the young girl's name was. She was obviously very nervous and it showed. As mucha s we are used to Aly as one unofficial giude pointed out, it might have been nice in an industry that seems obsessed with anorexically thin as a standard to have a main character in a teen-themed show who had curves in abundence.

and its still rampant in the industry today (the absense of curves i mean) but thankfully there are some shows around like Ugly Betty etc. that have a more curvy main, or even in Dollhouse.

I understand that it would've been a good stand having Riff... but honestly I don't like the willow she portrayed, she didn't have any cutesy or quirky-ness to her, and after seeing how much Aly was capable I don't think the show could've done as well with Regan...
She's been in next to nothing since the pilot of Buffy and I'm sorry to say (incase I'm wrong) but I'd take a stab and say it was her acting ability not her 'shape/size' that stopped her from landing a worthwhile role.
Joss took lots of stands in his show, and while 'women-body-image' would've been a good one to tackle, I don't think she'd have been the right part... especially since the character of Willow was always meant to start shy and geeky, and that's not a nice stereotype to reinforce with a 'fat' person... Aly pulled it off with class and humour because of her acting capabilities and her cute (which moved to HOT) look.

I must admit i have not followed the career, or lack thereof, of Riff Regan. She was undeniably nervous on the pilot and its understandable that she didn't get the job. As a re-cast, Aly nailed the role superbly.
