Okay, so the horror genre can be bled pretty dry these days with endless remakes and japanese adaptations.
Occasional a horror film comes along that genuinely excites me, most recently Drag Me To Hell and Rec...Splinter has been another of these and I FINALLY watched it last night.
I thought it was awessommeeee!!
Seemed fairly low budget but the gore effects especially on the creature looked pretty cool. It was really reminiscent of The Thing to me which can never be a bad thing.
Plus the whole idea behind the splinters goes through me.
I also, and this very rarely happens, cared about the characters and geniunely wanted the main couple to survive.
So, anybody else seen it and liked it? Or hate it?

I agree, I loved the movie. One of the better horror movies in the last few years (along with REC and Drag Me To Hell, as you pointed out). All three of the main cast were great and you definitely cared about them, which is really rare with horror films these days. Slick editing, and there are some really tense scenes. My only gripe is that I actually wanted more. I think the movie could have used one more big attack sequence from the monster (movie is only 82 minutes).
Every horror fan should see it though.

hehe, totally agree, not long enough.
I was watching it on SKY and checked the amount of time left and was like WHAT! it finishes in 10 minutes. lol.
The whole finale with the creature barging into the petrol station/shop with it just manically spinning around after them was so much fun and extremely tense.
Also, the main female character...wow...LOVED her. Hope she makes it onto bigger things as she was great, incredibly goodlooking, and random sidebar, reminded me loads of evangeline lilly off 'Lost'. Which is obviously never a bad thing.

Love, love, love this movie. I'm glad others enjoyed it too. If you haven't seen it, see it!
