The 'Andrew MIGHT be gay' jokes are extremely funny--or at least they've been in the past.
But now it is becoming overused?
Pretty much every other major character has had some sort of romantic entanglement (or fiasco). Is Andrew's asexuality part of his charm? Or is it time for Andrew to get a boyfriend?

Yeah, ... a bi guy with similar characteristic to Oz & Xander in season 2-3 could fit in with the group, I guess...

Maybe I'm just a bitter loner, but I don't see why everyone "needs" a partner. Can a character not recieve interesting development and storylines on their own without being coupled off?
Andrew in a relationship would feel wrong to me, if not downright out of character. He's like a child, naive and self-aborbed. As Joss had said, he's not even aware of his own sexuality, so suddenly giving him a boyfriend would be weird.
If the writers go down that road and do it well, fair enough. But just because he's gay doesn't mean the writers have to prove it by giving him a boyfriend.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Now is the time for everyone... gay, straight or whatever... to zip up their pants and get busy solving this very big problem they have right now with Twilight. Of course this is Joss, so more stress = more sex. And with no magic use, they're all gonna be under a lot more stress. Especially Willow. Maybe Willow can hook up with Andrew. If a gay man has sex with a gay woman, does it create a paradox? Will the universe be sucked into a vortex?

I'm gonna be in the minority and say that Andrew needs a girlfriend.
1) It would be alot funnier. And plus it seems everyone is just waiting for him to go gay. It would be hilarious and a great twist if one day there was a comic with a panel of him just standing there, saying out loud "HEY!! I kinda like Girls!!". 2) I say hook him up with a strong independant woman to help him even more understand what it means to be a strong independant guy. I also say hook him up with Satsu. Or develop one of the countless background slayers.

I agree he doesn't need to be coupled off. A little development that allowed him to come into his sexuality (no pun intended ) wouldn't be bad though.

in all reality so far all of the gay jokes have just been that, jokes. Andrew on the show actulity showed just as much affenity to women as to men, if not more so that last time we say him on angel he was going going out on a date, with two women, if any thing hes at least some sort of hybred between assexual and bi. But i have to agree with drgreenevil it would be alot funnier cause every one would be like i thought you were gay and he'd have some sort of hillarious responce.

I'm gonna be in the minority and say that Andrew needs a girlfriend. That would be funny as a joke. It would show how totally oblivious Andrew is, if he were like "Hey, I'm a guy, I should have a girlfriend. Because guys have girlfriends." And have the Scoobies kind of exchange private glances like "Uh... isn't he gay?" if not more so that last time we say him on angel he was going going out on a date, with two women Joss has apologised for that scene and what it suggests, and says that Andrew was supposed to be leaving with a group of friends, no romance implied. Joss:

I think Andrew doesn't need a partner. I like that Andrew has never had anyone.
I also sort of like the idea of Andrew getting a girlfriend. Or sleeping with a lesbian.

Or develop one of the countless background slayers. If he was ever going to get a girlfriend, it'd have to be Dawn. They're so cute together... Andrew on the show actulity showed just as much affenity to women as to men, if not more so that last time we say him on angel he was going going out on a date, with two women, if any thing hes at least some sort of hybred between assexual and bi. I'd seen Joss's quote before (that Paul posted) about that scene, but since the scene is what it is, in light of S8 and his role in the group, the most-likely explanation is that both of those girls were slayers in Andrew's group, and they were heading out on an undercover mission at some fancy black-tie party. It'd be cool if there was a gay or bi male character in the story, but that character shouldn't be Andrew. The seemingly total cluelessness about his own sexuality is one of his defining character traits, one of the things that makes him so funny, and in his case I can't imagine it getting old...

I personally think that the ambiguity of his character is what makes the character work. Why ruin that?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Now is the time for everyone... gay, straight or whatever... to zip up their pants and get busy solving this very big problem they have right now with Twilight. Haha, you sound like Giles here. It reminds me of S7 when he was lecturing everyone about how this wasn't the time for "going on dates and quips about orientation" (and then he holds up the hilariously drawn "flashcards" of the Turok-han vamps ). Paul - I never knew that the scene in TGIQ was not how Joss intended it, or that it was actually meant for Dawn - interesting. Either way, I never got a sexual or romantic vibe between Andrew and the girls, so it still worked, imo. I agree with whoever said that those girls may have been slayers. Perhaps Andrew was just playing things up for the benefit of Spike and Angel, which, knowing him, is entirely possible. Personally, I couldn't care less whether Andrew is with anybody or not (male or female), he is still Andrew and still funny.

I always thought there was a reason he didnt engage in a relationship even though he could. Maybe he feels guilty for his involvement with taras death and has never gotten totally over and feels hes not allowed to be happy with some one the way Tara and willow were. Maybe Willow will figure this out and they will delve into his guilt and she will honestly forgive him instead of just tolerating him. Then he will get a superhot tibetan buddhist monk whos in an order thats taken a vow of silence and wonder how the hell does he tolerate andrew and the joke will be because he doesnt speak english

Lol, well it's happened in the real world before (I actually know a couple like that that is now married with children believe it or not). And so far our universe is fine....for now.
