When you say "kill the last old ones that walked the earth" you're right, it could probably kill Illyria because of that, but it all depends on the person holding the scythe, because by time that person has swung the scythe...they'd be dead.

If Illyria can be hurt enough just by Hamilton's immense strength (re: bloodied face), then she could definitely be hurt/killed by someone wielding the Scythe with enough power. Same could be said for any object really.

That Scythe probably slayed a fair few Old Ones while the rest were being driven out of this dimension. Not all of them are stuck in the Deeper Well, remember - some died, some get chased out of our world and into others.

We see how Wesley's axe break on her head in Shells and even tough she has lost powers since then, she still has power(she did take on a dragon), I think only special weapons would do. |

And don't forget Spike: After the Fall. Non couldn't decapitate Illyria cuz the axe shattered. But I agree that only a special weapon could kill Illyria. Or something like that
