Okay SlayAlivers! I know some of your are avid HP fans or at least very HP knowledgable - so I wanted to use your clever minds I love Harry Potter but never really gone insane with the fandom before, I just quietly indulge my obsession with the books and the films and some collectibles. I thought it'd be easier to ask you guys than to try to find the answer in some random and foriegn forum Are there other books in the HP verse? I've heard something about Beetle Bard or something - is this HP related? Are there any good non-fiction HP-related books? Like guides, essays anthologies, philosophy and all of that? Hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance!

Tales of the Beetle Bard came out last year and is considered a part of the Harry Potter canon (Books 1-7 + Beetle Bard), so I'd definitely suggest giving it a read! As for non-fiction stuff, I haven't read any. I do know that all the bookstores have a lot of Harry Potter stuff out because of the movie, so you could go check out the Harry Potter table/section and see what they have and if any sound interesting.

There was a book filled with info on magical creatures. I don't know how many of those that were mentioned in the books tough, or who wrote it. Can't even remember the name since it got ruined a while ago and I had to throw it out(having your pet-rats run all over the book shelves is a bad idea)
I was like 13 when I got it, so maybe it's more a child-book, but I thought it was cool.

Oh yeah, forgot about those. The Care of Magical Creatures and Quidditch handbooks. Really short books, but I believe those are apart of "official canon" as well. So books 1-7, Beetle Bard, Quidditch and COMC handbooks.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is the book of children's tales that Dumbledore entrusted to Hermione in Book 7. It's not essential reading, but it does give you the whole tale of the Deathly Hallows, plus a few more stories.

Anyone else who didn't like the tale of the three witches and the knight?
From what I remember, those witches where bi***es.

There is a set of two books, Quidditch Through The Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them. They are thin, little, hardcover books with writing in them(Harry's), like notes. They are very cool to read. Beedle the Bard is amazing. The regular copies are a fun read(of five wizarding children stories), but the collectors eddition is just... wow. I have all three versions, UK, USA, and the collector's edition. And then JK is going to publish a encyclopedia about Harry Potter with notes, and what not. Anyone else who didn't like the tale of the three witches and the knight? From what I remember, those witches where bi***es. Oh, I love that one! I love the ending of it.

So there is Quidditch Through The Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them and The Tales of Beetle Bard?
Thanks so much for all your help guys. Knew you would know! Are these titles still readily available? And whats the news on this HP Enclyclopaedia? Coming soon?
I love JK's website with all her notes on what she didn't include and stuff she had to exclude in the books - will it include her notes of actual expansion of the canon HP world?
I know this is the book section but I also wanted to know whether anyone has any good HP collectibles? What out there is good and is there anything especially sought after?

Yes, the encyclopedia wont be for a looooong time. lol And, yes, those are the three other HP books. Collectables? Hmm... The only really collectable of HP I have is my Collector's Edition of Beedle the Bard. There are some deluxe editions of books 5-7. Im not sure if they are better(must be if deluxe), but they have a different cover, and some type of case thing. Also, I have a prop replica of Harry's wand, and Hermione's time turner. ;D

They are very cool to have! I had a whole big problem when it was shipped to me, because it broke in the mail. But I got another one for free. Then my brother stepped on that one... But I glued it back together. lol
I would say that if you are a fan of the movies, get at least one. They are neat. But lock them away safe. lol
