yay for emotional meltdowns altogether (Willow in Grave, Anya in The Body, Dawn in......every episode.)

Erm lets see...
So many big chunks of season 1. Fun on a corny level, but there's only a couple of episodes where it shows it's potential.
Season 2. Still quite a lot of corn. Reptile Boy is awful, there's a few other weak episodes; but the writing has picked up and there are some absolute classics here too. Angelus ftw.
Season 3 Lowlight? The drama of the previous year forced a slow start. Most consistantly great season in my opinion.
Season 4. Adam's rushed arrival kills the tension in a good but fragmented season. Where the Wild Things Are is pretty ghastly.
Season 5. Pretty great. The Knights of "come-on-now, medieval-knights-on-horseback-in-broad-daylight" were lame, as was that little "midget in a dung-beetle costume" alien.
Season 6. So much, lol. Mediocre for a scarily large portion of time. Hells Bells is a total abortion of an episode, and Willow's big magic arc is handled with the grace of a bodybuilder tap dancing in military boots.
Season 7. Episodes stand up nicely individually, however they all come together with a lack of focus and a weak major villain. I'm gonna be unpopular and say CWDP is a weaker episode here. It's not bad by itself, but once you've seen how the season plays out, it suddenly stands out as horribly misleading: "Oh I thought they knew where they were going with that one..."

Fashion in the first couple of seasons.. Up until late season 3 actually. Most of the time, Buffy looked like a tramp. Heh.

Didn't SMG help make the wardrobe change? She thought as Buffy grew up, she would dress way more classy & especially considering her maturity level and the need for fightin' clothes, she would stop dressing like a ditzy spoiled SoCal shopaholic sooner rather than later. As early as S2 she's dressing herself way better - a lot more like the Buffy style we all like.
There was a clothing store here for years, and everything in it looked like Buffy wardrobe. I seriously think the owners were fans!

Still, in the early episodes.. she looked like a tramp. I still loved her, but my mum wouldn't watch it with me because on the first episode she was like "Is she a slut?" And I was like O: "MUUUM!" And got all angry. But then I realised where she was coming from, haha.

Yea, SMG had a lot of pull later in the seasons. If you take note of a lot of the clothes, there's a lot of Juicy couture (ughhh...but that's just my personal opinion) and a bunch of Seven for all Mankind jeans. I've read articles about those being Smidge's favorite fashion brands and how she incorporated them. I think that it helped a lot when she was in charge of the clothing. I like Buffy's clothing choices when she was a lot more...covered up. Not as trampy, but all those short skirts were the style...12 years ago, at least from what I remember.

I didn't really want to vote on this, but I will say season 1 is the season with the least importance in it. It is the season I have watched the most though, over and over again! I love season 1 a lot. But it isn't the best season.

I said season 1. But S1 is one of my favorite seasons. I know alot of people aren't as fond of it as season 2. I like it because its when we meet the scoobies and Angel. It's when the team started it's foundation. The beginning of a story can have it's weak points. But it can have it's strong points as well. Like Prophecy Girl. Still one of my favorite episodes. "You've got fruit punch mouth". Classic!

There were all kinds of hot messes season 1, but then season 2, I'm like, "where can I get that?!?" And the hair definitely started to look better as the series progressed. (Sorry Spike, Buffy has cool hair.)

While I agree that S1 is not as on the mark as the seasons that followed (apart from S7 imo, but that's another argument) I still think that it's an example of classic, excellently constructed television. This is where we meet the Scoobies for the first time and all of the relationships are properly cemented. We learn about the world and the things that could occur in it. It doesn't have the eye-popping storylines of later seasons, but as far as pilot seasons go, I would say it has a lot more going for it than, say, Dollhouse S1.

It's unfair that S1 gets the most votes just because it had the fewest episodes. For a series just starting out, it really wasn't all that bad and had some pretty solid eps - Prophecy Girl and Angel being two of my faves from that season. I would say I Robot, You Jane was probably the weakest of S1, but still good/enjoyable. All and all, I think S1 did a good job of setting up a solid foundation for the series. S2- Probably my fave season but still had some weak eps - Some Assembly Required, Inca Mummy Girl, Go Fish. Overall an incredible season though. S3 - Can't think of any weaknesses this season. S4 - Season 4 also gets a bad rap, but again, I think the transition from HS to college was handled quite nicely. There were many solid/funny episodes this season. And I know Adam gets a bad rap as well, but really, I don't think he was all that bad for a villain. S5 - Great episodes throughout, can't think of much weakness unless you count Joyce dying. That being said, The Body is a beautifully tragic episode. S6- Spike's attempted rape of Buffy pretty much sums it up. Warren = Ugh! Tara's death, the wedding that didn't happen. S7 - Empty places, enough said! All those bratty, ungrateful potentials, Anya's death, Xander losing an eye. It is hard for me to be critical of Buffy. Even the weakest episodes are still better than anything else on TV. There is really no such thing as bad Buffy, even the filler eps are still quite enjoyable.

Season 1 - Not a very good season, but the show was just getting started, and it has fewer episodes. A lot of the episodes were pretty corny, but some were good. Overall I suppose I think they did an ok job, although this is my least favorite season. Season 2 - Ted, Bad Eggs, Inca Mummy Girl, Reptile Boy. But overall this is season is amazing. Season 3 - Nothing I can think of. Season 4 - The Initiative, Riley, Adam. Beer Bad, Where the Wild Things Are. Season 5 - Dawn whining. Great season overall. Season 6 - I actually love season 6. But I didn't particularly like the whole magic addiction storyline and Xander and Anya not getting married. Season 7 - Kennedy and the potentials.

Season 1: Jess wasn't mentioned after The Harvest.
Season 2: Xander's hate for Angel was very irrational. I get that he was jealous, but to act that way around Buffy when she needed support? Not cool. (Specially since Angel's not the only one who tried to hurt Buffy when being possessed. Remember The Pack?).
Season 3: Why didn't they kill Faith when she was in the coma? For all they knew she could wake up(unlikely but still) and start killing again.
Season 4: Why did they not kill Spike? Specially after the Adam-business. He was dangerous.
Season 5: Dawn's whining. She grew up pretty quick after Joyce died, but the first half of season 5 I hated her.
Season 6: I want to say Spuffy, but a part of me believes that Spike brought Buffy back to life, before she killed herself or let a monster of the week kill her, so Spuffy wasn't a 100% horrible. Specially since we got soulful Spike. So I pick Willow's mind-violation, and her lack of understanding of how wrong that was. I still don't know if she's truly sorry about how she took away a piece of Tara.
Season 7: Robin and Giles trying to kill Spike. Necessary? Perhaps. Nice? Nooo......

Season 1: Jess wasn't mentioned after The Harvest. Yeah, that always bugged me. I get that Joss wanted to kill of a character and all, but Willow and Xander weren't even sad. Willow is like, "at least you two are okay" after she hears her best friend has died. It was stupid.

I think there's no question that the first season was the least eventful because it was a brand new series and characters needed to be introduced and developed and blah blah blah
