it certainly does get a lot of camera time. Her tea set is in almost every scene with a new volunteer for Activeism or a client. is there some sort of cleverly disguised symbolism or something there that i'm missing, or is it really.....just a tea set?
Knowing Joss, it probably has something to do with Alpha and the apocalypse and Echo and how 'nothing is as it appears to be' and on and on and on. lol, i'm just curious. has anyone here figured out the mystery of the teaset?

<_< I was very confused at this thread for a moment. I was like "wut's a teaset" but then I put a space in the middle and everything is OK now. I hadn't really considered that as symbolism, just sort of accepted it as part of Adelle's character.

I really just think it is a tea set...
That is, if there isn't a bomb hidden in it...
But it's still just a tea set... Just holding a bomb. ;D

Haha, the tea set is to show that Adelle is british... if you didn't already know .

Haha, I dunno but I too have noticed that the tea set certainly gets a lot of prominent screen time (and what a lovely tea set it is ). I agree with Hellbound Hyperion, that this is just part of Adelle's character. Maybe she simply serves the tea as a way to put perspective clients at ease? As Giles, always said, "tea is soothing..." Plus, as Joe said, she is British after all. Brits do love their tea (and not to destroy a perfectly good cultural stereotype here, but I'm American and I love tea). P.S. If Adelle's tea set ever goes up on Ebay I would so want to buy it, but would of course never be able to afford it. Knowing Joss, I don't blame you for thinking the tea set represents something more, Just Willow. Who knows, you may be right...

I know I'm a little late here, but I have a few thoughts. The only time I really noticed the tea set was in the first episode. I know she still has it, but I never really paid attention to it expect for that episode. Right now, I think its mainly just used to try to put both her clients and the possible dolls at ease. However, like you guys have said, who knows what Joss Whedon has in store for that little, seemingly harmless tea set. We'll just have to wait and see .

I don't think I ever even noticed xD As others said, I don't think there's any symbolism there. It's just to show that she's British or something.

The tea set she uses looks quite Eastern in origin, probably Japanese. My guess is it's probably meant to add a zen quality, or act as an extension to the rest of the Dollhouse. After all, the dolls are always encouraged to relax by getting massages, doing yoga, or pruning bonsai trees. Also, nothing beats a good cup of tea. Maybe Adelle just loves her tea time too.

Hahaha, I love that this thread even exists.
I completely agree with all the points made, Adelle is British so therefor tea, and then the rest of the dollhouse has a very zen like atmosphere to it so it would only be appropriate.
But while we're on the subject of Adelle's favorite liquids can we examine the best quote ever ... Dominic - "Did I miss anything?" Adelle - "Only the vodka, thank god."
After he shot the brandy (scotch?) [which was totally CGI's btw].
That was most definitely straight from Joss's mouth.
