I read it earlier today. I let the story sink in. I didn't like it.

Xi, I totally noticed the Wicked book! Haha, what a great detail. And the perfect bedside reading for Willow. ETA: Yeah, Amy wasn't there but she poofed Warren out of there with her magic. All we see is the green smoke. Buffy's "Then, that's it. Forever" regarding Willow's final spell of teleporting the sub was a great final line for the issue It was also very, very naive. Plus the final line is "Huh."

Plus the final line is "Huh." The first line of next issue will be, "You crushed several of my yaks."

If you keep making that face, it'll get stuck like that.

Especially since there's a green-skinned witch/demon/sorceress/seductress in Willow's life too. Btw... just Wiki-ed Wicked, and guess who used to play the Wizard? Joel Grey aka Doc from S5 of BtVS.

Doc? Heh, cool. It's also fun to note that Whedon is a big Wicked fan, too. There's a Firefly/Serenity fanvid that Whedon himself linked through Whedonesque that uses a song from wicked. He called it the greatest crossover (or something to that effect).

I was unimpressed by this issue, in general. It seemed as though there was multiple issues worth of action condensed, abridged and shoved into one comic. On the one hand, this is most certainly going to allow there to be more breathing room--lengthier character/ plot developy scenes--in the upcoming parts of Retreat (hooray!). The pacing of this issue was sacrificed for the greater good of the arch. It just felt jumpy, hectic, and hard to connect with.
Great ending though. Cannot wait for next month's issue. I'm gunna have to, though.

I have not read the issue yet, but had a question, how do Giles and Faith get from Berlin to Buffy and Co.?

God I wish I could get my hands on this issue right now... You guys make it sound so good. I've been waiting so long for it! Sigh.... Just a question: Does the Buffy/Giles reconciliation feel organic?

God I wish I could get my hands on this issue right now... You guys make it sound so good. I've been waiting so long for it! Sigh.... Just a question: Does the Buffy/Giles reconciliation feel organic? I was wondering that, sometimes events in Season Eight feel disjointed and don't progress naturally. For instance, Buffy and Faiths reconciliation in Season Seven to their fights and shared antipathy in No Future For You and the jump in urgency from Predators and Prey to Retreat (unless this disconnect is explained in #26?). Sometimes it feels like the writers haven't conferred with each other regarding the advancement of the story and skip parts required for the progression to feel genuine.

To answer the questions.
Giles and Faith get from Berlin to Scotland by freight train. Or at least part of the journey happens that way. You see them talking on a freight train.
The Buffy/Giles reconciliation is about as organic as the way they dealt with their animosity at the end of S7. Buffy's tearful hug when she sees Giles speaks louder than any number of pages of chit-chat can. She's missed him, and despite their fallout in "NFFY", he is important to her. Also, she probably now understands why he tried to keep her out of the whole Gigi affair, having dealt with Simone herself. Dealing with rogue Slayers, not the best feeling in the world, seeing as Buffy knows that she's the reason they have power in the first place. It's an organic enough transition, and the gravity of the season thus far finally sets in when Buffy again addresses the issue about where the Slayers stand in the cosmic balance, but this time, she's a little more on the nose when she asks Giles if the Slayers are really the bad guys. In other words, Twilight's plan is working marvelously as he has planted the seed of self-doubt in her, and now has her on the run. My guess is at the end of this arc, like many penultimate eps (or around there) so far, Buffy regains her faith (hmmm... metaphor?) in herself and goes back to being the Buffy in the closing panels of "TLWH".

I wish I had more to say right, but in general, I feel like the Season is back on track. Loved the issue, it just felt like Buffy, for reals.

wow, that was fekin brilliant!
andrew´s sub-face was priceless, i almost wept when buffy & giles reconciled, the image of the sub in the highlands of tibet (I guess) is just mindboggling and it doesn´t get any oz-ier than "huh"!
this issue really got me über-excited, and I loved predators & prey!
anyone think buffy somehow must´ve kept track of oz? seemed like a spur of the moment decision to teleport all the way to tibet... so did she keep an eye on her "lost" friends once she had the tech/magik?

That'd be sweet if she kept contact with Oz while everything was going on. I mean, she did with Riley.
I just thought of how dramatic it'd be if Oz were to die this arc. Something big will obviously happen at the end and I'm thinking death. If Oz were to die it could mean huge Buffy drama. He was peaceful and she brought all her problems to him. In a way, she'd be responsible for the death of a close friend. Buffy hasn't been making the best decisions as leader this season. Let's not forget the Buffy/Willow tension too. If Oz died it'd probably make it worse.

I don't know. I kind of feel the opposite of Oz dying. I kind of feel like Oz is going to be there to save everyone. Lol. In the sense that he will help change the Fray's Willow of the future and help stop the use of Magicks through his zen spiritual control.
I can't wait to see Willow's and Oz's reactions to each other. How long has it been? Four years? There's a lot of stuff for them to catch up on. I hope there is enough room in the comic to show a good amount of Willow Oziness.
Actually, I'm just excited that everyone is back together again. I wouldn't mind pages and pages of just the entire Scoobie gang sitting around talking. I suppose that might be boring, but I really miss all of the hanging out that they did together in the episodes.
