I was watching Nip/Tuck the other day on DVR...and I thought of Willow. A character on that show, Liz, is a lesbian. After a one night stand with another male character on the show she acknowledged: "I am a lesbian. I don't love men Christian, I love you." I wouldn't be upset if there were a similar exchange as this between Willow and Oz. Willow is now in lesbian relationship number two. I take this as her more or less being a complete lesbian. But I do believe she still loves Oz in some capacity, and always will. Just as Buffy will always love Angel, and will always love Spike. As a gay male, I know that I would never be with a new woman. But I will always love as well as feel a sexual attraction to my first girlfriend. It's a feeling that will never subside, although I would never act on it now. Does that make sense to anyone? Well, that is merely how I relate my life to how I think Willow might be. I am sure that once Oz does reappear our questions will be answered one way or another. I agree completely with this post. My expectation is that Willow's relationship with Oz will be a loving but non-sexual one. (I mean, that would create... what, a love rectangle? Willow, Kennedy, Saga Vasuki and Oz? That might be piling on the sexual theme a little thick, even by season 8 standards. Maybe Tina Fey will show up too? Will is an awesome chick, but... there are more important things for these characters to be dealing with now than nookie.) I think that not only is Willow very comfortable with her current sexual identity, but Joss is too. She's been such an inspiration to and source of connection with the gay and gay-supportive fans that I just don't see him ending that (although he may poke at it a bit.)

Scott Allie was right when he said the issue title would make people talk ! I wonder if "Retreat" is the title of the whole arc or just of #26? In the prior single-author arcs, issues didn't have individual titles.

In the Q&A Scott said that issue 26 was called "Retreat" but didn't mention anything about the entire arc. So either each issue will have an individual name, or he was mistaken and the entire arc will be called "Retreat." :/

Iamthewalrus - it doesn't matter if Joss thinks sexuality is fluid, Willow (or any other character) won't neccessarily think the same as Joss Joss created the characters, Joss decides the Characters' directions in life, Joss pretty much is the characters. Willow is a ficticious character. Whatever she thinks was thought up by Joss in the first place. I know it's a given but I feel like some people need to be reminded we are talking fiction here, not real people. yes, Joss does decide Willow's traits and beliefs, but he still doesn't have to make them the same as his i know they are fictional characters, so they aren't Joss and they don't think like Joss i'm pretty sure he doesn't have that many personalities so, no, i don't think Joss pretty much is the characters, he just decides the paths they take he most certainly wasn't pretty much Caleb

I dont think that it would be a step back for her character at all.

I have no doubts that Willow will still feel something towards Oz. I think it's an interesting idea to put her, Kennedy, and Oz all in the same place.
Personally, I'm just glad to see Oz again. He was such a cool/mellow character.

As much as I'd like to see it, I doubt Willow and Oz will get back together. Now, I sort of believe that Willow is bisexual as opposed to just a lesbian (she obviously loved and was attracted to Xander, Oz, and Tara), but I think there would just be way too much controversy amongst fans if anything happened to turn Willow away from her seemingly established gayness.
Maybe Oz can just "accidentally" maul Kennedy to death? ;D

Hence my last answer you probably skipped by accident ;-) "Sorry what I said is confusing. I was not saying that the characters think like Joss but that they think what Joss want them to think. Maybe I wasn't clear and I think I also misunderstood what was said in the first place. "

I was just remembering something Scott Allie said He said that "no stone will be unturned" in this arc, and all the characters' issues will be addressed. When I think of Willow's past with men she still loves, and her current issues with Buffy, I wonder if this arc might address the vague statements about Xander as well as Oz's return. Any conflict issues between Willow and Buffy would certainly escalate if Buffy slept with Xander, and Buffy would have to have issues piled on herself to actually do that outside her dreams.

i don't really see it either, but i think some people might be seeing it from the dream sequence in The Long Way Home when she asks if he's coming to bed, etc

Though that could just be because everyone else is isolted from Buffy and all she really has left is Xander, I'd be for a Buffy/Xander relationship. Though maybe not seen as one of them would have to die eventually and we all know that it wouldn't be Buffy so...

Frankly... at this point in the season I think it's time for ALL these characters to set aside the tingling in their nethers and start concentrating more on what they're going to do about this Twilight dude.

Not saying that I dont, but I would just be interested in hearing about it. I didn't give the whole explanation because I was afraid that I'd have to put my whole post in spoiler tags, but here goes: A while back Georges Jeanty said that Xander is going to hook up with someone, and it'll be more of a "hook-up" than an actual relationship. Really the only candidate I can think of for that is Buffy. It would definitely push issues out into the open, and that's what Scott Allie said was going to happen in the Oz arc. I could probably stand to be a little more curious about how Oz fits in to his own arc.

"It was an easy victory, Master Twilight. When we arrived they were all having sex with each other. Boys with girls, girls with girls, boys with boys... it was like the 1970's were back. We killed them all, and I don't think a single one of them even noticed."
"I must admit that Xander and Buffy looked very sweet together, though."

It's like BtVS has turned into some kind of supernatural Grey's Anatomy, only without the hospital. I would rather the Buffy/Xander pairing not happen, I'd rather it not even be mentioned. It's nasty and a little incestuous like Meredith and George on GA. This must be a first for the forum, a five page discussion with only the title of the issue? Can someone confirm that?

Can't be sure if it's a first for that reason, but it may be a first for a five page discussion about sexuality, based on an ambiguous title.
