Thanks for the tease... but methinks that the whole "jaw hitting the ground" thing is a birth defect of sorts; people seem to be born with looser jaws these days. Everything is "shocking". Maybe I'm just jaded. Maybe Oz is my mentor.

That is exactly what I thought, and the person who isn't happy is obviously Buffy. Man, I wish the jaw dropping was because we found out who Twilight was!

Shocking relationship-y encounter, huh? Anyone else worried about Willow/Buffy. I mean, Jo Chen's cover with magic entertwining the two ... if it is I wouldn't be shocked, but would hope they get passed it. I don't see it being Dawn/Xander, there has been nothing linking the two together at all this season, and I would love for it to be Xander/Buffy...but...who doesn't? lol
This didn't really get me excited for this issue, just upset I don't have it in front of me now. So thanks for that "major twist" info. XD

Pretty sure Buffy will catch Xander and Dawn together. If she freaks out about it, it could cause pretty serious resentment on Xander's part (and maybe Dawn's as well), with potential consequences down the road.
Or maybe Kennedy finds out about Willow and Saga Vasuki... possibly through a vision (same way Buffy found out about it).

They've certainly laid the groundwork for the deepening of the Dawn/Xander relationship - but I think it just as likely that they'll really surprise us and have Dawn witnessing an unplanned tryst between Xander and Buffy. That might have deeper repercussions. Not sure how I'd feel about this though.

For some reason, a Buffy/Xander hookup would ook me out a lot more than a Xander/Dawn one.
The time Buffy dreamed about taking Xander to bed, his head fell off. She should keep that in mind.

I too believe that this "shocking development" has to do with Xander and Dawn. Me thinks Buffy discovers them together and is none too happy. Can't wait for this issue.

For some reason, I doubt this development is about Xander/Dawn. I'm thinking it is related to the seasons other, larger mysteries. Probably thinking that because of the preview pages though. Xander/Dawn just doesn't seem crazy enough to me to be considered shocking anyway.

Xander/Dawn just doesn't seem crazy enough to me to be considered shocking anyway. Bear in mind that this was written by a reader... it's just her perception of what's "shocking." Someone who hasn't been analyzing the comic like we do might have missed all the Dander subtext of the last few issues and be taken completely by surprise.

Xander/Dawn witnessed by Buffy. I think it only comes off as shocking to those who haven't been reading the subtle cues (which I believe the Whedonverse likes to call set-up and character progression) and are blatantly ignoring how close Dawn and Xander have become (and are squicked by Dawn having sex with a guy whose she's been crushing on since high school). It just feels right. Because Dawn's gone through all the transformations and is a woman now. All grown up. And full of feeling. And Xander's recovering from another potential love he lost.
Any other coupling would feel cracky, where as this one has been very subtly built up to. That's not the sign of bad writing that those who've been reading the book closely can predict this. That's the sign of good writing. Because character progression counts here.
Was Buffy/Satsu any less shocking for all the signs leading up to it happening? Xander/Dawn will still cause extreme ripples in the fandom.

I wonder how negative Buffy's reaction will be, and how Xander and Dawn will react to that reaction. Considering all he's lost in the last couple of years because of his friendship with Buffy, and how he's been bottling up his emotions over those losses, I don't think Xander would appreciate the implication that Buffy doesn't trust or respect him enough to want him seeing Dawn.

I hope its Buffy and faith. I'm not concerned if its dawn/xander. That doesn't make me feel like wow i've got to get this issue.

Wow. I stopped buying the comics when they revealed the Dark Willow twist is TOYL. I hated it.
Since then I've borrowed them from my friend. Honestly, if there's a Dawn/Xander romance...that would be too much. I absolutely hate the idea of it. Blech.
Looks like I'll be re-watching my DVDs. sigh.

It's sweet that the Scoobies feel leisurely enough right now to play their little Wisteria Lane games. But if their love lives are the things we're most concerned with by the end of this arc, then Jane will have not done her job. Less boffing, more slaying.

Less boffing, more slaying. Clearly you never watched Mr & Mrs Smith. Or BtVS for that matter... remember what happened with Willow and Oz the night before the big snake? Or Anya and Xander before fighting Glory? Or Anya and Xander post-eye-poke? Or Kennedy and Willow? That said, I see where you're coming from... *sigh*

I don't think Buffy would react well. In Season 6 when Buffy thought Xander wanted to marry Dawn for a brief silly moment, she freaked out. Not only because of Dawn's young age, either, but because Dawn's her sister. I don't think Buffy will take to kindly to the idea, and rightfully so >.<

Just seems like kind of a silly organization of priorities, sometimes.
