^ Valid points. There is just something about Kennedy that rubs me the wrong way. I just can't bring myself to like her. Maybe that will change, maybe it won't...

I don't think Kennedy was given a chance to grow upon the audience, unlike previous major characters she was sort of just presented - ta da! - and suddenly Willow's partnered up again.
Also, and i haven't seen mentioned anywhere - but i always thought Kennedy was supposed to be a sort of younger Faith (proto Faith) and Vi was very much proto-Willow (even her hat).
But this idea of 'Scoobies the potential generation' was never developed - and was a bit silly since Willow and Faith both returned to Sunnydale anyway. Atleast Felicia nabbed the funny lines!

Ok i guess you cant really talk about Kennedy without adressing her sexuality, since whether you can admit it or not, she has been a face of the gay community in the media. Buffy and Satsu, I find it so interesting that there's so much that so much people can say about it. But getting back to Kennedy, and also Tara, its very true that they both played key parts in willow's growth. Tara was the one who got to be Willow's partner on her journey through magic and figuring out that she's not just another straight girl. But then tragedy struck, Tara died. At that point Willow had learned to suppress her magic. But it was like a toaster that was waiting to pop at any moment. The tiger couldnt be caged anymore and Willow exploded into the dark willow people know so well. She fell apart after loosing her bestfriend and girlfriend, the one who had played such a key part in her transitional phase. She was broken inside and had accepted magic as a part of her. Kennedy came in as a rock in terms of not controlling the magic, but the darkness inside of her. I think thats what a lot of us wish we could have; someone who can bring a little bit more light in our times of darkness. Kennedy was not a witch but she was gay, so she could help Willow move forward in one aspect of her life while Willow still had to deal with the magic. What made things work for Willow and kennedy was that compromise that was mentioned before here, Kennedy said she didn't like magic right? Well she still accetped Willow for using it and still choose to be with her regardless. Also, that compassion that Kennedy has for Willow. Willow had lost the love of her life and Kennedy had chosen to stick with her and her damaged heart instead of waiting for someone more "stable" to come along. I think thats Kennedy's most beautiful trait: her compassion for her girlfriend. She's not perfect either, she was freaked out when Willow drained her during that spell, but still she managed to stick with her.

^^^ Nicely put rogue. Now we just need people to stop wishing Kennedy would die! I don't think it would happen, but if they killed off Kennedy just b/c peopel didn't like her I would be pissed. She is a good slayer and should still be a part of the verse.

While I'm not a fan of Willow/Kennedy together, I do like Kennedy as a character. I'd like her a lot more if she wasn't with Willow, I don't think they are right for each other. I hope they don't kill her off, but I think her and Willow will be breaking up soon.

"They will be breaking up soon" is a phrase you can use for just about any romantic couple in the Buffyverse.

Well unless Buffy can prevent the future from happening, Willow is going to be around for a long time. so the question is when or why did Kennedy die. Some people didn't like the "Time of you life" arc but i thought it played a huge role in telling whats to come, not just for Willow but for the whole slayer population. I think in order for any relationship to work you need to have love and friendship. Willow and Tara seemed to be best friends but the question is, does Willow and Kennedy have a strong friendship also?

I'm not sure if Kennedy dieing would cause Willow to go off the deep end again. I can totally see if Xander was killed she would revert again, I mean they've been best friends since kindergarten.

I've always thought Kennedy was a great character. She got a bad rep from fans for being the "replacement," but in my opinion she wasn't. People dislike Kennedy because she isn't Tara. She's different. There's nothing wrong with Kennedy at all, neither is there with Tara. Both girls were/are great for Willow, none better or worse. I dislike Kennedy not because she was a "replacement" for Tara (I never saw her that way), rather I dislike her because of her attitude in general. If she had a different/better attitude, then I would have no problem with she and Willow being together. The fact that she simply "isn't Tara" has nothing to do with why I don't care for her. While that may be true for some fans, it is not the case for me. Besides, that is not reason enough to dislike her character, imo. Of course, I am only speaking for myself here. It's funny, because I always kinda related to her attitude.

Okay, here's the thing: Kennedy, by herself, is a great character. The actress that played her, however, wasn't so great. I actually really like the Kennedy in the comics, especially when she's not with Willow.

I do like solo Kennedy, maybe they would make better friends? I think Kennedy helped Willow recover from losing Tara and herself, but now that Willow has moved on maybe the magic will pull her away from kennedy.

i hope they dont kill of Kennedy or Willow there my favourite characters ;D but i can see everyones points about kennedy being a 'brat' i think she is a little too. the way she always challenged Buffy(which was kinda funny tho) and even Faith in S7. but i also love her she really helped Willow through sort of getting over Tara( ) and mabye people are forgetting that she is supposed to be like that Joss(god bless this man) said he wanted an opposite of Tara and he got one Kennedy. I dont think I've ever written so much about Buffy in my life cant we all just and get along?

As much as I dislike Kennedy, I don't want her to die. I don't want willow to get all evil again. Hell, I don't even know if she WOULD go evil like she did with Tara.
I guess it wouldn't be too bad if they had a panel of Kennedy getting killed in the one of the last panels of S8...and then S9 begins after Willow goes through mourning.
...Yeah, I like that better.

And yet, when Willow was done mourning Tara in S7, her character was called into question, and all sorts of animal waste was rained on the writers for not doing right by Tara. But oh wait... this is Kennedy after all, the poster child for pariah-lover.

But oh wait... this is Kennedy after all, the poster child for pariah-lover. Hm. Well, I'm not one of the people that called Willow's character into question. Then again, I think it was pretty apparent that she was still very upset about it (visiting the grave, being reluctant about Kennedy, etc). Actually, I feel very fortunate that we got so many references. Xander barely mentions Anya, and they were together since S4! But for that, I don't question Xander. It's the writers that I question. I think it would seem odd and out-of-character for ANYONE to not show any sign of remorse or mention their significant other. I guess it all comes down to me not liking Kennedy. Sorry for that. In my opinion, I thought she seemed immature and was annoying during a lot of S7. Granted, during Chosen I began to like her a bit more. S8 has proved her to be more tolerable and I actually enjoyed 'Predators and Prey'.

Sorry, wasn't addressing you personally, just that I found it funny that people are willing for Willow to get done with Kennedy, but god forbid that ever happened with Tara. Honestly, I think it's because Tara was extremely...sweet. Kennedy is kind of opposite (not that she's rude, she's just more...abrasive). The whole situation reminds me of the B/A and B/R thing. I remember (and still see) so many people hating Riley. I think the "rebound arguement" and the fact that they didn't have very much time to win fans over kind of shell-shocked the viewers.

I have this curse where I start to like a character because a lot of the fans hate them/trash them. I've started to love Riley because of that, same goes for Kennedy, Dawn as well, and pretty soon I'll love Andrew because of the fan-hate.
When I see so much hate for a character, I begin to point out the good qualities of the character to their haters. For example, Kennedy. She's the most courageous member of the potentials, she knows what she wants and tries to get it, she doesn't take shit from anyone, she's aware that she has the right to voice her opinion and she does it, she's a natural leader, she's not afraid to stand up for the ones she loves... all those are amazing qualities.
I think Kennedy is a great change for Willow. Willow always went for the sweet type... Kennedy is nothing like Oz and Tara. She's outspoken, bad-girl type, a little spoiled, and younger than Willow. I'd love to have a story focused on them in S8.

Who do you think was more of an equal partner for Willow? Tara or Kennedy? Or does she overpower them both, not in magical or physical stength but in the relationship?
