Okay so here it is. I was watching The Gift last night and thought to myself 'What if another slayer was called because Buffy died again?'. We can all assume that another slayer wasn't called because Buffy alreasdy died in season one and therefore is kinda counted as dead in the whole of things. But the writers could have easily changed things. If they wanted to they could have introduced yet another slayer because Buffy dies in The Gift.
What are your thoughts? Would you rather they did or didn't introduce a new slayer??

I think they COULD have if they wanted to, because they could've been like "Hey, no slayer has ever come back to life before and died again, so the watchers council and slayer lore didn't know it was possible" etc etc, but personally I reckon it would've been a bit of a cop out to have another one.
As I interpreted it (and have had to explain to my new Buffy fan friends) no new slayer was called when Buffy died again in the gift and when Warren shot her, because Faith was the next in line and was the 'active' slayer as far as the Slayer Magic was concerned. So it doesn't make sense that Buffy's deaths would keep activating new slayers, because each slayer's purpose is to activate the NEXT slayer, and that one only, at the moment of their death...
But in answer to your question, I guess they COULD have - if they wanted to - and written the Slayer mythos just a little differently, but I don't think it would've been worth it or neccessary. They already explored the 'What are other Slayers like?' question - with a fully dedicated text book slayer (Kendra), a rouge/rebellious slayer (Faith), and flashbacks to chinese slayer and Nikki Wood (An african-american single mother with serious 80's style). OH and we had the potentials all Slayered-up by the end of it, so adding another one in season 6 would've have really mattered if that's where they were heading...
I officially choose no, but I guess if they had've done it I wouldn've kicked up a fuss because they'd probably make it cool...

I agree with Jess.
Would have been fairly pointless, and nothing NOTHING could have topped Faith.lol.
It would have just been retracing old plotlines that we've had with Kendra and Faith and I can't really see an extra Slayer fitting into the whole arc of season 6.
Im happy with the way they did it.

Thread pertaining to a possible third Slayer already exists. Please just use the original thread for further discussion. HERE's the link.

Yeah, I know this one has a poll, but it's pretty much addressing the same thing. Plus, I'll take words over polls any day.
