Becoming pt2
The Good; All of it, every scene between Spike and Buffy, Giles and Angelus and Spike and Joyce. Great scenes with all the Scoobies and the ending just too heartwrenching for words, especially with Sarah MacClachlan's beautiful music, all classic.
The Bad; Are you kidding? It's all too wonderful!
Best line; Joyce; "Have you tried NOT being a Slayer?"
Character death; Angel or so we think? Shot; Tied up; Giles and tortured Knocked out; Dru which is rather strange, Spike seems able to knock her out with a chokehold despite the fact that she doesn't breathe and has no circulation. Women good/men bad;
Questions and observations; Joyce thinks Buffy is the Slayer because she didn't have a strong male role-model. Of course she'll later find out that Buffy is the Slayer because she did, she had Giles. The first (and only unless you can correct me) appearance of Willow's 'resolve face'. Xander's remarks at her bedside set the basis for their relationship in season 3. Willow successfully casts her first spell. Why is Buffy still wanted when Xander and Cordy can back up her story? Spike's reluctance to end the world seems odd considering he was happy to do it earlier A couple of points that escaped me about Becoming pt2, firstly Dru seems to be deeply enamoured of Giles but then she always did have a thing for 'daddy'. Secondly as Jenny Dru says to Giles that they'll get to do all the things they never had a chance to implying that Giles and Jenny never did have sex

Love this episode! Perfection! And this is the episode when I fell in love with Spike (in a non girl on boy kinda way, to paraphrase Taby ). I love his line "right, she plays the, duh, triangle", although it's a bit unlogical, considering he likes Sex Pistols and stuff. This is also hilarious: JOYCE: Have we met? SPIKE: Uh, you hit me with an axe one time. Remember, uh, "Get the hell away from my daughter"? JOYCE: Oh. ;D ;D ;D Oh, so much looove in my post.

I love his line "right, she plays the, duh, triangle", although it's a bit unlogical, considering he likes Sex Pistols and stuff. "I'm in a band... a rock band... with Spike here!" Imagine if they really were in a rock band, how awesome that would be? Love this episode! Aww, ::big hug:: sweetie. Hope everything's okay!

You know I never put much thought into how far Giles and Calendar got into their relationship...but considering that quote from Dru and Spike's later, "Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cuppa tea, cup of tea, almost got shagged, cup of tea?" that really makes sense....kind of sad to think about really. Giles was always a favorite of mine and it makes Jenny's death that much more depressing.

*hugs* saturn5. Love, love, love, this episode. Nothing bad about it! So much humor and so much heart break at the same time. Becoming I & II, definitely my favorite two parter ep, and definitely my fave finale! Love the Spike/Joyce scene in the living room. Always great when these two get together. Love Joyce's reaction to finding out Buffy is a slayer: Are you sure you're a slayer? Have you tried not being a slayer? It's because you didn't have a strong father figure isn't it?(the obvious subtext here is homosexuality and "coming out"). We see this referenced again in early S3 when Joyce says, "I've tried to march in the slayer pride parade" (i.e. gay pride parade). Interesting point, saturn5 about Dru being attracted to Giles because of her "daddy's issues." Never thought of this before but you could be on to something. It's also quite disturbing. I felt so bad for Giles as he realized that Jenny wasn't actually there. This to me is for more cruel than any physical act of torture or even death! I never thought that Giles and Jenny ever had sex, which the statement "everything we never got to do, never got to feel" confirms. Interesting (and also humorous) that Spike and Buffy form an unlikely alliance this ep. Was this the beginning of what was to develop between them in the future? (I tell ya, if you'd told me back then they would end up having a relationship I wouldn't have believed it)! Love Spike's reasoning for not wanting to end the world, "billions of people walking around like happy meals with legs." Interesting that even here we get a small glimpse of the man Spike will eventually become. The difference being that here Spike is clearly motivated by his own selfish reasons, whereas later, it is done for purely altruistic reasons (or b/c he loves Buffy so much). I wonder, did he love her even back then and did not yet realize it? We see that he was obsessed with her from the moment he stepped foot in Sunnydale. But that is another topic all together! The ending is Killer! When the Sara Mclaughlin song, "Full of Grace" starts playing it is almost too much to take! So sad as Joyce goes into Buffy's room to find that she is gone. And as Buffy looks out on all her friends to see that they are ok before heading on a bus out of town.

Yes, this is an amazing episode, no two ways about it. Lot's of people have already said the most important stuff, but I must reiterate how awesome the Spike/Joyce scene is. Also, the line: SPIKE: Dru bagged a Slayer? She didn't tell me! Hey, good for her! Though not from your perspective, I suppose. Superb!
Odd things I always notice:
The female cop is so quick to shoot at Buffy at the beginning. I mean, I've heard about gun-happy cops, but jeez, she's 17 for crying out loud!?
Even though Spike is from London, he supports Manchester United. Phoney! I will always choose to believe he really supports Spurs or Fulham or Chelsea - something from north/west London anywho.

That's not willow's first spell. Willow's first spell was to uninvite Angelus.
