Is it just me, but does Giles sound different in the episode "Doomed" in season four? I mostly noticed it when there was this scene when he was talking to Buffy outside of his house about the earthquake. I just don't get why he sounds different. Did he have a sore throat? Do a voice over of it? Why? ??

Not just you, I notice this everytime and it pulls me out of the scene. It's strange.... but I have no explanation.

Here's a clip of where I think he sounds the weirdest... particularly to the end of that scene. Perhaps ASH had a cold or something? lol

Glad someone else pointed this out, I always notice this and it's very strange. My friend didn't notice it so I thought I was just crazy. Maybe there was a problem with the sound equipment or they had to re-dub his lines and it came out weird??

I've always imagined he must have had a bad cold, but it definitely sounds like his voice has been dubbed over the top of the scene - maybe his cold was so bad that he lost his voice entirely during teh filming and had to dub when it was only partially recovered?

i never noticed that... it could possibly be a dub...
but in reality, it's an incompetent boom operator. he was holding it too close to Anthony Stewart Head, causing his voice to sound strange.

Definitely sounds like a dub over...

I thought I was the only who thought this! Anyone else I've asked has essentially said I'm imagining it, but it does sound different doesn't it? It sounds quite nasally....so probably a cold like a lot of you said. I'm just so glad I'm not the only one who noticed, ha.

Hmmmm... I wish there was a commentary or something that could explain that. He kind of sounds like when he did in season 1...very British? Oh well.

Here's a clip of where I think he sounds the weirdest... particularly to the end of that scene. Eh, I just think he sounds A LOT more british than usual. Maybe thats just my untrained ears. It's like the pitch in his voice got turned up higher or something. Most likely, its a sound failure.
