So I watched Never Kill A Boy On A First Date last night (S1), an episode I haven't watched in years, and it made me think about these guest characters that only stick around for maybe 1 or 2 episodes. Do you have any favorite one-shot characters, and do you ever wonder what happened to them?
So a quick refresher-- in Never Kill A Boy... Buffy goes out with this kid Owen who is way broody and into Emily Dickinson. He and Buffy end up in the morgue where he gets injured by a vamp. The next day he tells Buffy that he wants to have more dates like this and Buffy breaks up with him because he'd totally get killed if he stuck around. And then we never hear from him again. What happened to Owen? To me, he seemed like a really dull human version of Edward Cullen (it was the old fashioned pocket watch that gave it away), who likes to buy cupcakes/muffins for his dates when they ask for something fattening. I could either see him becoming a vampire because he's had a taste of danger, or living a very boring normal life, working in a cubicle, and wondering if he missed his shot with Buffy Summers.
Anyway, Owen-- not really my favorite, but it's the one that comes to mind right now. What are yours?

Jessie and "Roger Wyndam-Pryce" come to mind right away for me. Oh, and Pat and her empanadas. Dawn's new "friends" in the Season 7 premiere, that were then never heard of again. Hehe I am jumping all over the place.

Oh, and Pat and her empanadas. YES! One of the best Buffy quotes of all time. "I hope you like empanadas". Katrina is one of my favorites. Love when she kicks The Trio's asses.

I think they talked about that in the episode commentary, that they were only meant to be in that one episode because the potentials would be introduced. Too bad. They could've been junior scoobies, and it was an interesting mix of misfits. Also, Dawn could've use an outside life. Katrina is one of my favorites. Love when she kicks The Trio's asses. Me too, but how she ended up with Warren Mears makes me wonderwall. She seemed too cool for him. Also her death was one of the most disturbing things I'd seen on Buffy because it broke the fantasy element. People get murdered, and sometimes humans do the murdering.

Aura, from 'Welcome to the Hellmouth', (also had a voice cameo in 'Rm w/a Vu', and the actress then when on to play 'Agnes Bellfleur' from 'Over the Rainbow'). I also wished that Devon, Percy, Anne and Vampire Sandy (from "Doppelgängland", "Family" and "Shadow".) where around more than they where.

Chanterelle/Anne.
I think she did enough on Buffy, but on Angel she should have been used more.
I always wanted her and Spike to meet up. Him trying to figure out where he'd seen her, she's trying to act like they're never meet and that he's mistaken. Angel getting fed up over the situation and blurting out "She was a vampire groupie Spike, you bit her!"
Also, just one simple scene where Jesse was mentioned again would be so nice, even if it's in season 8.

Would Kathy, Buffy's roommate, count as a one-shot character? Cause if so, def my fave, if only for making Buffy so psychotic and leading to by far one of the funniest episodes of the whole series.

I liked Cassie. I really felt for her character in "Help." Would have been great if we'd gotten to see more of her, like, hanging out with Dawn or whatever.

Cassie for sure. It would've been much better if they used her to introduce the Potentials storyline because then we would've had one we already enjoyed and was developed enough. Though she was in more episodes, she never got a lot of attention, I just really loved Amanda, she was my favorite of the potentials.

I liked Cassie. Also Chantarelle/Anne. I suppose she was more than a one-shot on Angel, but I like her enough to wish she had more episodes. I loved her friendship with Gunn.

Yup, she totally counts I'm also not surprised to see so many Chanterelle/Anne fans here, although I can be a bit slow. For many months as I watched AtS, I kept wondering why that girl was so familiar. Pieces of the puzzle, and you guys help me put them together. Teamwork! Speaking of AtS, I kept thinking about Phantom Dennis. I wonder what happened to him? Did he finally move on or is he still Caspering the next tenant? I loved Phantom Dennis and his protectiveness of Cordy.

Ted. Definitely Ted. I'm not saying I would have wanted him in more episodes as that just wouldn't have worked in my opinion, but I just loved John Ritter's performance- and the writing of the episode. I mean John was always really good at doing sinister but also was excellent at comedy and he really got to mix the two here. I mean there's a scene at the dinner table after Buffy's stormed off to her room and Ted is all smiles saying "She'll come around" but then his eyes just flick in the direction of Buffy's depature and just slant all sinister-like. It's an excellent underlying tone. And I can't not laugh at his malfunctioning scene when he just keeps randomly coming out with sentences like "Makes you feel like you're 16 again!"

Gage (Went Miller) from "Go Fish". There was a potential good development of Buffy/Gage
I bet there would have been more Riley fans if it was played by Went

Sunday was awesome - should have been around a bit longer. Would've made a good "groin buddy" for Spike, to use a Buffy term. She's probably my fave.
Also good were Kathy, Cassie, Holden from "Conversations with Dead People", AprilBot, ooh! Easily-Pissed-Off Squid Guy from "Hell's Belles"...I'm really digging now...
And I actually liked Owen! In silhouette/profile he looks just like Angel (just a random observation), and maybe he could've popped up more.

I was always hoping for a Marcie return. That or Katherine Madison!
Oh, and Michael the warlock from Gingerbread! He seemed cool too! Now he's in one of my favorite bands, Rilo Kiley!

Oh, and Pat and her empanadas. YES! One of the best Buffy quotes of all time. "I hope you like empanadas". OMG YES!! Whenever I see that actress on TV (she seems to be invading almost every show I watch), I shout out "IT'S PAT THE EMPANADA LADY!!!"
