Looking at the script for "The Harsh Light of Day," I saw this bit of dialogue, which was originally the beginning of the teaser: WILLOW You know what else I love about college? How when the professor comes in, the class gets all quiet.
BUFFY Oh I hate that. I'm always like, what? Did something scary come in? Do I have to kill it? First off, it's just a funny line. But second, it would have served a good purpose at that point in the show ... at the beginning of Season 4, there were moments when, in contrast to Willow being all excited about college, the show came dangerously close to "look, here's ditzy Buffy, being played for laughs" territory. That line would have been a touchstone to remind us that, no, Buffy's not an airhead ... when she acts like a space case, it's because she's preoccupied with thoughts about whatever demon she's going to have to go after next. Anybody else have favorite scripted lines that didn't make it to the final cut?

Well I have a few, since I own The casefiles and The watchers guides and there's excerpts from original scripts in them.
Here's a hilarious cut line from the Buffy season 5 Doublemeat Palace.
Dawn shares Willow's feelings on the delay in getting a response from the chemical testing of the Doublemeat burger.
"So much suspense. It's like taking a pregnancy test... when they do that in pregnancy test commercials."
That might have been my favorite Dawn quote if it had been aired.
From Checkpoint;
Willow has some rhyming fun when recapping events from the previous episode(when Olaf, Anya's ex, makes a "visit") in a line cut due to length:
"I didn't create the troll. I didn't date the troll. In fact I hate the troll. I helped deflate the troll."
Can't believe they cut it. It would have been such a popular quote for Willow-fans.
Btw, I had no idea buffyworld had scripts. Thanks for showing me.

Thanks for starting this post. I had no idea that we could see this information. Another Buffy avenue to explore.

A line exchanged between Dawn and Vi in the living room Episode:Chosen After Xander says "Only the crazy ones."
DAWN And the Master grabbed Buffy from behind and bit her, she tried to move but he was too strong, he fed on her blood and he tossed her in the water, cackling insanely as the bubbles rose around her and she slowly drowned to death. VI (upset) Do you have any other stories?
DAWN She gets up again, it's very romantic. Guys, you gotta stop worrying. It's Buffy. She always saves the day.

Those lines are so good! I wanna hear more. Where can I find scripts? BuffyWorld has them all. Click on the seasons along the left rail -- the shooting script is listed under each episode's entry on the season page. That site also has the original unaired pilot (with Riff Regan as Willow) and the original trailer for each eipsode, both of which can be pretty fun.

Are we sure they're real? Well, at one point, I looked at one of them side-by-side with the script from the same episode that was included as a DVD extra, and the parts I looked at matched exactly. So, probably.

And to think, I was always too lazy to read the scripts on the DVDs and thought, "Why read them when I can watch the episode?" Now I know better!

There's one line I would have liked to see in 'Waiting in the Wings', when Cordy asks Angel how's 'their little boy?' and Lorne replies that if Connor peeps, he'll get chlorophormed. When Angel and Cordy just give him a look, Lorne huffs 'Parents. Never with the humour'

I read in another post in the forum where, in "End of Days" where Buffy and the Scoobies starts to argue. Something was deleted where Giles mentions Angel killing Jenny and Buffy throwing a vase from Joyce's gallery. I thought they should've used that. It went all the way back and just made a small nod to those characters.

It went all the way back and just made a small nod to those characters. I'm actually glad they made sure not to bithyfie the characters too much. It's one thing to say "Buffy's you're making the wrong choices right now, you need to leave" and another to blame her for things and act like she's nuts. On the other hand, some parts of the original version should have stayed. But, If they had added the part about Jenny, we really should have seen the scoobies talking afterwards, not just acting like nothing happened.

In "Passion" at the end of Buffy and Joyce's "talk" about sex (after Angel reveals the secret) -
BUFFY Well, what did you tell Grandma when you…
JOYCE Nothing! (thinks) I don't think she knows…
Also, an interesting line from the Buffy/Angelus fight in the Factory at the end:
ANGEL You know, even when I feed off other girls, the name I call out… is yours.
All the Angelus voiceovers have changed (for the better) from the script. Most of the other changes were good as well, much of the ending scenes between Buffy and Giles were shortened. Good stuff.

There's an interesting bit at the beginning of "Forever" when Buffy, Dawn and Giles are looking at caskets. Deleted stuff in blue: FUNERAL DIRECTOR It's a fine choice. It speaks to your deep feeling for the deceased.
ASH is so good at telegraphing things without speaking, I think it would have been interesting to see the footage.

Anybody else have favorite scripted lines that didn't make it to the final cut? That's a great line! I would have welcomed it as a good indication that Buffy has gotten over her initail apprehension about college as well - although I guess that emerges well when she starts beating Willow academically. Also love the Dawn pregnancy test one! Great stuff.
