I certainly don't have trouble believing that two different people came up with the same eight-note progression. And it's used in very different ways (in Buffy as a main melody, in this song as background vocals). Has Nerf Herder ever said anything on the subject?

I can't believe I find this video here! DOF (short for Deutsch-Österreichisches Feingefühl - German Austrian Sensitivity) was one of THE big hits in Austria when I was a teenager, in 1983! I'm having a huge nostalgia flash now ... and it was a rather local thing: I think DOF never crossed the borders of German speaking countries, so I truly doubt that Nerf Herder ever heard of it, it being the days long before utube and all ...

that was the strangest 3 minutes I have experienced in a long time. And I thought the Aquabats were wacky musicians. This makes them look like John Tesh.
