Prompt: Outsider Perspective. Highlight an important aspect of the Whedonverse (person, place, thing) from an outsider's perspective (not a main character; a minor character or even an original character). Format: Prose. I'm leaning towards 1000 words or less. (People kept urging for a drabble or a short ficlet, but I'd rather keep them at 1000 or less. People can write as much or as little as they want.) All submissions must be submitted to me, The Muse, by 11:59 pm on Wednesday November 11 15th.It's strongly suggested that you have your work beta'd before submission. Please fill out this form to attach with your submission (using all areas that apply): [/li][/ul]
Thread title should read Challenge #6, not #5. Should be fun!

Can I ask a stupid question? What if you haven't got a beta yet? Where could I find someone willing?

I started work last week. That on top of school and homework meant I couldn't find the time to do this... again Just out of interest. Does to outsider have to be watching an event that actually occured in the series or can you create the event also?

There's really no limit. It's just that the outsider perspective should be showing insight into something we, the reader, would recognize. You can create events, but you want them to fit into the canon of whatever you're depicting.
For example, my friend Lirazel wrote a story about Buffy and Spike interacting during Season 7 as seen through the eyes of the Potentials. She created scenes of them interacting - Cha-Ahn not knowing Spike was a vampire (not speaking English) until she saw him drinking blood in the kitchen and goes to stake him with her chopsticks and Buffy moving in to stop her. This demonstrates Buffy's protective side towards Spike.
Does that make sense? You use your story to share with us something you believe to be true about that world - be it a relationship, a character, a place. You could have a new character show up in Sunnydale and have their experiences highlight what it's like to live on the Hellmouth - in that instance, the Hellmouth would be what's shown through the outsider's perspective.

Cool. Wish I had time to write one

I'm thinking about extending the deadline if I don't get a few more entries.
Anyone think they'd participate if they had a few more days?

I have only been able to start on this tonight. I was prepared to write like crazy to get it in on time, but a few more days would be a huge relief! Also, I could get it beta'd and hopefully just produce a better quality piece.

No, Sunday isn't too long.
Let's see if a few others will hopefully chime in before I make a decision.
