I asked this on my livejournal, and the response was varied. As it stands, the poll has 8 votes for yes, 7 for no, 3 for maybe and 4 for don't know - inconclusive, so I thought I'd bring the question over here. So: In Crush, if, after Spike had told Buffy that he'd kill Drusilla for her, Buffy had encouraged this (not the 'go ahead', detached type of encouragement like in the episode, though)... would Spike have gone through with it? Would he have dusted Dru?

I have no idea.
I think he wasn't over Dru entirely, so I want to say that he was just pretending, because he still cared for her, but he wanted to see Buffy's reaction. But then again, he is hotheaded(I think that's the word). A few episodes earlier he thought about killing Buffy with that riffle, until he changed his mind.
I'm not sure if he could have gone through with that either, but it's been shown that he can make not well thought out decisions, no matter if he will regret it later or not.
This is the vampire that almost raped the love of his unlife after all. He's not much for planning.
So like said; I have no clue. He is a very hard character to understand. One minute he's a poet, the next he's raping you on the bathroom floor. Confusing.

Ya know, that's a good question, but no, I don't think he would've had the guts to go through with it.

Yeah, he doesn't have a soul and remember how badly she treated him. And he loves Buffy, he'd have done it

Honestly, I don't think he could've done it. As Skytte said, Spike is quite the hothead and threatens to do things he never follows through with. It's really quite sad actually. I see it more like Spike is at such a point of desperation to try to convince Buffy that he cares about her, that he was willing to do anything to get that attention.

I took a stab at this and re-wrote the scene if anyone wants to read it in script format on my journal here.

I dont think either..Its too stupid that he would think , buffy would take him on a date when he kills Dru. Buffy probably be like ,"less vampire to stake".

It all depended on Buffy.
The way Buffy was talking to him and was treating him during the episode, and especially when she as all tied up, no, Spike wouldn't have dusted Drusilla.
But, if Buffy's reaction had been different, if she had told him to prove himself by killing Drusilla, i am certain that Spike would have found the strength to dust Drusilla.

That's a good question. Although Spike wanted to prove his love for Buffy, I don't think he would've staked Drusilla. He wouldn't have been able to ignore his past with her. I mean, he was in love with her for over 100 years or something, right? So, no, I don't think he would have dusted her. I have to agree with leyki, though, if Buffy's attitude had been different and she had encouraged him, I think he would've done it, because he was so desperate.

I don't think he would have ever actually brought himself to do it. As others have said, he was just trying to garner a reaction out of Buffy, just to see how far he could take it. But no, I don't believe he would have ever followed through with it. In the episode, he still speaks very highly of Drusilla, and despite his feelings for Buffy, you get that sense that Dru will forever have a place in Spike's "undead" heart.

I don;t think he really would have done it. Though he's moved on and now is in love with Buffy, he still feels deeply for Dru, maybe he would have tried but I don't think he'd be able to bring himself to do it.
