Thanks for sharing. That was a pretty nifty interview. I'm kinda jealous that you've had the opportunity to meet Georges in person. Anyway, just so you know, we do have a monthly Q&A session with Georges and Scott Allie here. These usually start when a new issue is released. Click HERE and HERE for links to previous Allie and Jeanty Q&As respectively. Keep your eyes peeled for the new sessions that will start this Wednesday, in the "Retreat" subboard.

Interesting. So it looks like they're shooting for 2011 to start season 9, and it will be rotating writers again instead of going with a single writer.
I wonder what writers he'll try to get. Minear? Marti Noxon? David Fury? I'd love to see Bryan Fuller write an arc.

Really interested in seeing what developments from S8 will merit a S9. But I'm glad that Joss has thought far ahead enough... Allie has already said that S9 is already roughly mapped out.

I'm glad for Season 9 as well. As a fan I want Buffy to go on forever, like the X-Men. But I don't know how possible that is considering the material. But 2011 is still far away and there's gonna be plenty o' slayer in the meantime too. Good news I say!

I think Joss is planing to reduce the value of issues in season 9 because he thinks 40 is too much ..I think i could be wrong.

I think Joss is planing to reduce the value of issues in season 9 because he thinks 40 is too much ..I think i could be wrong. All that was ever mentioned for Season 9 so far was that the rough plot has been mapped out. And that the cast of characters would be smaller, as well as the story...it would be smaller scale. The number of issues couldn't be set in stone right now, it's too early.

Yes, that article was from MTV and it's rather old.
"It may not run as long, because 40 issues sounds great until you realize that it’s four or five years."
It may not run 40 issues. That could mean it may run only 10, or maybe 25...or 37. We won't know until Season 9 actually starts.

I don't think that quality is determined by the number of issues the story spans. I'm glad to hear that Joss is taking his time to tell his S8 story, and not thinking just in terms of an absolute number of issues. As for the length of S9, let me just offer S8 as anecdotal evidence as to why the length may change drastically once it goes into production. S8 was originally planned to be about 25 issues. Then it went up to 40. Now it's possibly 41, excluding the peripheral oneshot stories that accompany it. Personally, I'm more interested in the direction that S9 will take, rather than how long it will be.

I think one complaint a lot of people have about season 8 is that it's taking almost 4 years to get through as much story as we used to get in 8 months with the TV series. It's very hard to keep an audience's interest keen for that long, especially following a seven-month break from the main storyline.
I'd rather see the story take as long as it takes rather than trying to fit it into a set limit, but a lot of people don't have the patience.

Storyline, more of a character development, more funny dialogs and the most important thing is that Buffy fans well be entertained for 4 years, so I call that a good thing. Their is no more relatable things going to happen to Buffy in the near future. To me, the comics are closer to the TV show.

I understood what you meant (didn't ask for a clarification). More isn't necessarily better. The story should stop when it has run its course, and not continue for the sake of continuing. And btw, you have been warned about the quality of your posts before. Consider this a reminder... it's getting harder to understand you.

I understand that the series should run as long as it needs to, but I think that 9 should be reigned in. When it's all said and done, I don't think we'll look back on 8 and think it needed to be as long as it was. An issue like A Beautiful Sunset seems to have said more than arcs have, hopefully the smaller scale of season 9 will lend itself to more focused stories.

Yeah, I hope that season 9 is more focused on the main storyline with the odd one-shot here and there. Season 8 is just to long for me. I just can't wait for S9... thanks for posting.
