Being a fan of both Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Smallville, the recent title "Turbulence" made me think of Smallville, and question if Joss was a big fan of the show, or not. Seeing as this is a more Buffy forum, which is clearly obvious, I wanted to ask you three main questions:
1) Do you think her new flying cababilities will be an asset to her this season? Will she be able to fly forever? Why do you think the writers made this move for her character; and does it have anything to do with Twilight? 2) Do you think Joss Whedon is a fan of Smallville? And, do you think its far that Buffy gets to fly when, 9 seasons of Smallville have passed and Clark Kent can't? 3) Do you think Buffy is getting more powers? If so, what?
Thanks, really want some opinions from you guys about these questions, lol.

1) Do you think her new flying cababilities will be an asset to her this season? Will she be able to fly forever? Why do you think the writers made this move for her character; and does it have anything to do with Twilight? I think her new powers, including flying, will be necessary for her to defeat Twilight. I predict she'll lose her powers at some point, probably when magic gets banished. Whether her powers have any connection to Twilight depends on whether he's future Buffy or not. 2) Do you think Joss Whedon is a fan of Smallville? And, do you think its far that Buffy gets to fly when, 9 seasons of Smallville have passed and Clark Kent can't? Don't know if he watches Smallville... I haven't heard that he does... but Clark Kent doesn't fly for the same reason nobody flew on the Buffy TV series... not in the budget. 3) Do you think Buffy is getting more powers? If so, what? We've seen: flight, super resiliency and/or healing, and super strength (on the #32 cover). That might be all... it puts her on pretty even footing with Twilight.

Don't know if he watches Smallville... I haven't heard that he does... but Clark Kent doesn't fly for the same reason nobody flew on the Buffy TV series... not in the budget. Willow was been shown levitating in "Family" as well as that ep where she first absorbs dark magic to avenge Tara's mindsuck by Glory. Dark Willow did a whole bunch of levitating. But it was integral to establishing how powerful she was then. They probably budgeted very carefully for that. Then there was levitating Cordy ascending to PTBness on AtS. However... Superman is a whole other deal... the man is known for his ability to fly. It's even in that little jingle that the solicitation for #32 spoofs. So, if CK were able to fly already in Smallville, there be a heck lot more flying, and the budget would go through the roof.

I've always had the idea that since now there are tons of slayers and that she is basically their queen, that Buffy should have got more powers. A kindof balancing out the universe. I'm glad flight is one of them.
