I've only started watching the show recently... right now I've watched up to S4 and i gotta say... Connor really annoys me Maybe because the whole connor/cordelia(jasmine?) thing planted the seed of hatred... but that's not why I hate him I mean can this kid think on his own?! well... I can understand being tricked by Holtz after all he was raised by him for 18 years but as the shows go on his issues are getting repetitive and boring fell into mind game I hate you dad you are so evil omg dad i'm sorry
he's like one of the most immature person in buffyverse... and i thought spending 18 years fighting for you live will really make you grows old I mean for god sake even Dawn is a lot more mature than him (considering she is just 3 or 4 years old? )

Considering that he's grown up in a place where it's likely that his only human contact have been a broken down shell of a man only living out of hatred, it's not weird that Connor is immature. He has had no chance to get any healthy social skills.
And Dawn, she was manifactured to be a healthy 14 year old girl (even though she did end up getting screwed up). Their lives are completely different so they can't really bve compared.

Connor was raised by someone with severely screwed up morals, in a hell-dimension, his parents were vampires and every time something started to go right for him something else came along to screw it up. An example of the latter is when he's trying to get over his unnatural relationship with Cordelia and he gets interested in Faith and then he finds out Cordelia is pregnant. I personally think Connor is able to feel more range of emotion than Dawn as all Dawn ever really seemed to think about was herself. She was the most selfish person in all of Buffdom, imo. Connor was probably the most fucked up, but I will tell you that by the end, he gets a lot better and is a credit to his father. Hence, my banner...

Connor is quite annoying in season 4, but he does grow up eventually, but you'll have to wait until season 5 for that. imo I think Connor is at his best in After the Fall.

I love how she just tase Xander and drove the car around the reason i don't like Connor is probably because I expect him to be some bad ass "rogue demon hunter' ( lol gotta have a Wesley moment there...his emphasis on that was priceless ) ... I didn't expect to see another teen with a bunch of issues

I can't take season 5 completely into calcutation when thinking about old pre-season 4 Connor, because Connor wasn't entirely Connor after season 4. Not after Angel had new memories and personlity traits put in him (as we see in Origins, when Angel comments on how W&H was suppose to fix Connor's appreciation of older women, which is just wrong of Angel to do).
I know Connor got back a huge part of his original self when he got his memories back, and even more in After the fall, but we never know how much of that is trully him, and what is W&H's programming.
He's a mix of old messed up Connor, the Connor Angel tried to make him be in the end of season 4, and the Connor that made new post-season 4 experiences.

Even after all these years, I still hate Conner. He isn't too bad in After the Fall though.

I liked Conner for most of the episodes, but when he was with Cordelia/Jasmine that just bothered me.

The first time I watched the 4th season it drove me nuts, and Conner especially. However rewatching it without waiting a week or more in between cliffhangers, I started feeling for Conner. That kid grew up in hell and then was convinced that Angel killed the man he thought of as his father. Then of course gets whipped back and forth by cordelia all throughout the fourth season. I really felt bad for him rewatching it and I have a new found empathy for Conner. I had the same thing happen with Dawn too, I was part of the kill Dawn faction but I watched it again later and started to see why she was the way she was.
I think they both complain a lot and are sulky so people tend to be driven crazy by them, but when you consider what they've been through I just figure maybe I would be bitchy too. I don't know..

Poor Connor was just tragic. The way he followed Jasmine even though it seemed that he wasn't under her thrall like everyone else. What he did to Angel and almost did to Cordy. Plus he grew up in a hell dimension with a crazy old man who told him nothing but horror stories about his parents. He was bound to be screw up. When Angel gave him a new life that was the best thing for him.

I am one of those people who does not hate Connor. I think that he provided a nice ammount of engrossing drama especially towards the end of season three. I know he just comes in and screws everything up but I really don't blame him. He had Holtz raising him and brainwashing him his whole life... which took place mostly in a hell dimension. So I don't blame Connor for anything he does in season three. In season four though he is still messed up, because you don't get over living most of your life in hell. I think he gets alot of hate for his part in the Jasmine/Cordelia plot, but I really don't think it should be directed at him. Jasmine/Cordelia is in my opinion what was more deserving of hate. In season five and After the fall, Connor is pretty awesome though. I think that even though Angel messed with his mind without asking, it was definitely for the better. He is actually happy sometimes after those events.
As for the Dawn comparison. I think they are immature in completely different ways. Dawn just seemed like a normal whiny teen to me, Her immaturity came from how self involved she was. Everything was about her, she completely ignored the feelings of those around her, and expected them to treat her differently. She just felt like her problems and loneliness were way more important than they actually were, and that is normal for someone her age. Plus she seemed a ton more mature in season seven. Connor on the other hand, I didn't really see as immature, he was just brainwashed. He needed to learn to think for himself, which is understandably difficult coming from his past. They are both whiny teens but they do it so differently that it's weird to compare them.
Just to be clear I do not hate Dawn either.

I found Connor annoying at times and felt that he slowed down a lot of season 4. That being said, I absolutely love Holtz as a character/villain and just thought the whole story of season 3 was fantastic.
