lightandmagic, I understand what you are saying, and I am really trying but I just can't bring myself to believe it. In my mind, saying that Kennedy just fights to have her opinion heard is not the way I see it. Because of the way she tries to turn Willow against Buffy and the way she talks to the potentials I just see her as being a bitca because she isn't getting what she wants. But I definitely have to concede that in early episodes of season 7 she is likable because like you said she is the only one not being whiny.

I think Kennedy can be a bitca, especially when she calls poor Chloe as maggot. I think she comes around in time, she's much more likeable at the end. She's also pretty good at pulling the Potentials together when Faith is knocked out by the explosion at the arsenal

Kennedy's the best-she's the only potential slayer that has really grown at all as a character. I guess Vi has become stronger and more confident, but we've seen the most of kennedy. And to those who don't grasp the Willow/Kennedy attraction--Willow was just growing confident as she met Tara-who was still very shy. No doubt, tara and willow made eachother stronger. When Willow met Kennedy, she'd grown leaps and bounds since S4, but was weak in a way due to going off the rails in S6. Kennedy was Strong and assertive-something that helped Willow grow strong again herself. People tend to act differently in different relationships. In the Willow/tara relationship-willow was much more alpha. It makes sense that Kennedy coming along as an alpha would challenge and interest Willow.
And I think Rona would be my least favorite--she had a bad attitude just as much as Kennedy-if not more. At least Ken could back it up with her drive & top knotch slayer skills.

Kennedy: She speaks her mind, she's stubborn, a great fighter, and a beyotch sometimes. Her personality is kind of the same as mine. There are times where she needs to shut her mouth (ex. her calling Chloe a maggot). I can't really say anything more as I haven't watch s7 in the longest time. I would give her the last name of "Walker" (yes, I know, random, but she needs one).
Amanda: She so adorable. Enough said.
Rona: She speaks her mind, which is what I like about her. Besides that, I don't care if she is killed.
Caridad: She was only shown in like three episodes and only had like ten scenes total so I can't say much. However, I like what I've seen of her so far. I wish she would appear in s8.
Violent "Vi": One of my favorite Slayers. She is probably the only one who had character development.
Chao-Ahn: Also one of my favs. I love all her scenes she's in, I think that's how my parents were when they first came to America.
Molly: A pretty good potential. A little bit annoying. Maybe if they had dropped the accent then she wouldn't have been.
Chloe: One of the very few characters who I gave sympathy for. I mean she was called a maggot by her fellow potential, had a huge weight on her shoulders thinking she may be called as the next Slayer if Buffy had died. The chances of that happening were rising because of all the other potentials being gutted like fish. She was like what, 15? Seeing Buffy being the leader during her time in Sunnydale and having a chat with the First probably didn't help her either.

Basically, I didn't have a problem with too many of the potentials, but it's really just Kennedy that I had a problem with. I didn't appreciate how she treated Buffy. She needed to understand that she was new to the slaying gig, and that she was not in charge, of which she had a difficult time comprehending. It seems as though she was always allowed to fulfill the alpha female role in her previous stage of life, but to be thrown into a situation where she was on the bottom seemed to frustrate her immensely. She was tough, yes. She was probably the best prepped and ready out of all of the potentials. She just needed to understand the order of things, and she has been able to do that in the Season 8 comics, believe me. I can tolerate her character's appearances in the issues a lot more than I could in the television series. My main problem(which may have also been a slight Willow issue) was that she was allowed to rag on Buffy, and be an utter bitca to her, without anyone coming to Buffy's defense, in Season 7. That has a lot to do with the other side characters, but come the heck on. Willow's known Kennedy for...3-4 months, at best, and Buffy's been your best friend for 7 years? Show some support, and don't let Kennedy run everything.

Well said, Greer. I completely agree. I have tried to bring myself to like Kennedy, but I just can't do it. Heck, I don't even like seeing her in the season 8 comics! The thing I dislike most about Kennedy (and most of the other potentials for that matter) in season 7 is her ungrateful attitude. Could she not realize that she was a guest in Buffy's home? As such, Buffy and the others should have been treated with the utmost respect (not just Willow). Buffy invited these girls into her home and took them under her wing. She became their mentor and teacher, and, in a sense, their mother as well. She made them fighters and shared her power with them. All things she did not have to do but chose to. I'm just saying, a little appreciation would have gone a long way, more so than the constant whining and complaining. Had Buffy not done what she did, those girls would have had it A LOT worse. And there probably would have been many more fatalities. But with the exception of a few, did they even stop to consider how much worse it could have been? I don't think so.

Amanda: She so adorable. Enough said. If I had a favorite potential, it would definately be Amanda. She was such a cool girl and so sweet!

I'd love to ask Joss if Amanda and Vi were consciously supposed to resemble season 1 Willow or maybe it was just something he did without thinking?

I do like the imaginations side of having potential slayers but for me the only problem was that their didn't do any explanations on how many potential arrived , their just appeared in each episode. I think the development , for me anyway , thier should have done it better.

. But with the exception of a few, did they even stop to consider how much worse it could have been? I don't think so. Pretty much, they'd be dead. @ Buffylover: I agree with you, about wanting more of the development of the potentials. I liked that there was backstory of the first few that arrived, but following that, there was nothing at all. It would've been nice to have some more from the massive amounts of potentials that arrived subsequently.

But after that 35 potential slayers appeared, what. Yes i totally agree i think the development should went deeper. I love Chloe, but her death was brutal.

Least favorite: Rona. Probably my least favorite character in the entire series. Virtually no redeeming features whatsoever. I couldn't stand Kennedy at first, either, but I've done a 180 on her since then. Well, no--maybe more like a 120. I like her a lot better now than I did, but she still has some elements to her that annoy me. Favorite: The pink-haired girl in Frankfurt in the teaser of "Beneath You". It's too bad they killed her off so quick, because I think she could've been a lot of fun. And even with that quick death, she was probably nearly as well-developed as most of the other potentials...

Favourites: Amanda, Vi, Molly, Chao-Ahn And I like Kennedy. I don't really see what's so bad about her. Sure she's bitchy, bratty and loves to run her mouth off but whatever. She's the strongest potential out of the lot of 'em. I know if I suddenly had to put my life into someone elses hands - even Buffys - I'd question what they were doing alot to make sure that I know we're gonna survive. And I've grown to like Willow/Kennedy more than Willow/Tara. Shoot me.
Least favourite: Rona. So boring. Chloe too.

Never did get the hate for any of the potentials. Loved them all. Kennedy, Rhona, Vi . . .they had there moments but it was all part of their charatcer. kennedy was the bratty one, Vi was the in secure one and Rhona was doubtful and scared. Wouldn't you be if you were put in their situations?

I really hated all of the potentials for a long time, and didn't even like the idea of them for years. My opinions have definitely mellowed, although the second half of S7 is still the nadir of the series for me. The only potential that I can really stand at all is Kennedy, because she at least has some purpose and does things, as tkts says above. I don't really understand why Willow has a relationship with her, though. After all this time in S8, I'm still waiting for a moment between the two of them that really confirms why they are together.
The worst potential without doubt is Molly, whose abuse of an English accent is insulting. "Cripey gov'ner, is it St. Shriven's Day already?!" *shudders* She is the only good-guy in the whole series whose death caused me to leap from my seat in celebration.

Love the random Simpsons quote too.
