Yep. I've been insisting (on another board) that we're seeing the Shanshu being fulfilled right here. And I think it's especially interesting that both souled vampires are on hand for it. The 'other' souled might no longer be souled, IMHO The flashforward in AtF indicated he will be standing over bleeding corpse of mortal lover - too iconic to mean simply killing Spider IMHO.

I don’t think so! I’m sure Spike still has a soul. The scene with the decapitated Spider doesn’t give a proof for a lack of Spike’s soul. Spider is a semi-demon and maybe there is a reason Spike to kill her somewhere in the future... Anyway, speaking about a no longer be souled vampire, maybe that’s Angel… See what he done in this season – Twilight-Angel showed a total lack of humanity killing all these people and slayers … maybe that means lack of soul. Maybe he lost it again or sold it… About the Shanshu - I’m pretty sure Spike will get Shanshu in the end. First – in Destiny episode Joss showed us two candidates for the Shanshu – Angel is not the only one vampire with a soul and Spike is the better vampire with the soul because his soul is not a curse, he earned it voluntary. Angel never wanted his soul; he was cursed with it… The prophesy is not for Angel personally, it’s for a vampire with a soul who will play a pivotal role in the last battle. Second - Angel signed over The Black Thorn circle contract with his blood and officially signed away the Shanshu with that contract… Third – Spike always was in the side of the good in the all apocalyptic battles (despite of his reasons)– he worked with Buffy to stop the Achatla apocalypse (Angelus was one who tried to bring that apocalypse up), Spike tried to stop Glory helping Buffy again, Spike sacrificed himself stopping the Turok-Khans and The First Evil (that was really heroic and epic sacrifice!!!), Spike helped Angel and his team to stop the Senior Partners on “Not Fade Away”. Now Spike is coming to “end the Twilight crap once and for all” (Btw – Angel was responsible again for the current apocalypse… ) So I think Spike maybe is the one truest candidate for Shanshu. He deserves it as he deserved his soul!

As stated in ATF, Angel is the one true and only candidate for the Shanshu prophecy. While he signed it away, it was never filed, so it's still in limbo and therefore, Angel is still eligable

Angel doesn’t deserve it… Sorry, I liked Angel as a charcter (in his own show and comics mainly) but I don’t think he is worthy to being human. Not after all these inhuman things that he has done… It’s even hard for me to see him redeemed in the end… Probably only a time travel or a parallel reality explanation would morally save him…

It's already ended in Bangel-land. They're each other's true loves. He's the yin to her yang. Everybody knows that. I think your being sarcastic here, but what you say is true in a storytelling construct. Every relationship Buffy has will be compared, by her, to her relationship with Angel. This universe is one big melodrama and Buffy and Angel will forever be the Romeo and Juliet of the 'verse. Do you think that if Angel had been around without his pesky curse at ANY TIME during Buffy's run that she wouldn't be with him? That really remains to be seen with what she does in the next arc, but your probably right, Buffy will always love Angel no matter what. She does not, however, love him enough to abandon her friends and family to live forever in Bangel bliss, so her love does have limits. Angel is not Buffy's "one and only" love, but he is "one" of hers. One that she isn't fully over yet, and I believe never will be. And again, that doesn't reflect on her other relationships, but it is a part of her character and one people shouldn't just ignore because they ship someone else. Angel is Buffy's soul mate and is her only true love. she loves him more than Spike. Buffy’s even said that she “loved angel more than I will ever love anything in this life” She even hinted in "Chosen" that she wants a future with him someday. Angel turned into Angelous not just because of sad, but "true happiness", sex with his soulmate, eg "sex with buffy" as Riley once said and Xander agreed to. I think when she told Spike "I love you" and he says Z"No you don't. but thanks for saying it" proves SPike isn't her one true love. I mean if he was, she most likely would've disagreed with him when he said that. But SPike knew.

I don't think so! Angel was Buffy's first love but Spike is her savior, her soul mate, her champion, her everything! The Bangel relationship was childlike and naïve even more than Edward/Bella relationship, while Spuffy relationship is powerful, passionate and mind-blowing. Who was the one who comforted and loved her in Touched when all of her friends and allies had abandoned her? SPIKE! Who was the one who was beaten and tortured and endured it to keep Buffy's sister safe? SPIKE! Who stayed with Buffy when her Scoobie friends dismissed her? SPIKE! Who encouraged her with his speech to continue fighting and to find the scythe? SPIKE! Who was the one who never left her, who treated her with respect, who fought for his soul to be a better man for her, who never gave up on her, who died for her?! SPIKE!!!!! Where was Angel then... ?! Oh, yeah, he left her because of his "pure happiness" issues...

He WAS a pretty weak Big Bad, right up until the "Retreat" arc. In the last two arcs, he became by far the most effective villain in the history of the Buffyverse. Nobody else has ever succeeded in killing and hurting so many people so close to Buffy. And now, the world is ending because of him. Angelus, Glory, Dark Willow, and the First Evil never got this far. The Master... remembers? It has killed Buffy

The Master... remembers? It has killed Buffy Well, technically Glory killed Buffy too (but wasn't around to enjoy it). In the big picture, though, she's just one person. Twangel is responsible not only for some portion of 206 dead Slayers, but a whole bunch of his own soldiers, and however many people have died so far because of the catastrophic natural disasters and invading demon armies his and Buffy's actions have caused. Of those Big Bads who aimed to destroy or enslave the world, none of them came close to succeeding. None of them caused any large-scale fatalities, or even registered with the general public. But right now, there's nobody in the world who isn't feeling the effects of Twilight, and if it's not stopped, the world (or the human race, at least) is going to end very shortly.

^ See, sex is bad. Look where it can lead you. If it's not pregnancy, it's the end of the world

If it's not pregnancy, it's the end of the world Well, generally the sex is not bad, but the sex with Angel\Twilight definitely IS bad and world destructive! And nooo, no pregnancy please! that would be awful... Poor Buffy... The Twangel's sex is a death, it's not a life...

The sales figures are out for May.#35 dropped again... only by fewer than 500 copies below last month, but it dropped nine places on the chart, from #27 to #36, due to tougher competition from the "Big Two." I'd say the book has settled into a core readership of 45-46,000. Which is pretty good for an indie book based on a long-dead TV series. I don't expect the 4-month layoff will do the sales figures any good, though. Joss's name should be good for some bump, but then Meltzer's should have been too.

I can understand where Somnabulist as I was a comic book virgin before Buffy. I never thought I would get into comics. I can happily say that I was so wrong.

Yeah, I guess same here as well. I did buy a few issues of Spider-Girl, but then the issues disappeared from the newsagency, so I stopped buying comics until I found out about Season 8

I haven't been on this board for several months, circumstances beyond my control, but I've been trying to keep up with Buffy. Now Spike appears at the end of issue 35. Where did he come from?
I gather that to know the answer, you must've been reading some of the IDW Spike comics. Put me in jail if you must, but I haven't. I soured on the IDW comics early. I thought there was way too much extravaganza, and way way way too much T&A.
But now the story lines are coming together?
So here's my question. What's the minimum of the IDW comics that I can read to get caught up with Spike, so his sudden appearance in that diving bell or whatever it is makes some kind of sense?
Help!
